-Kessley-"Ugh why do I even have to go to this place." I groan kicking a rock around with my converse.
The sky was an sick gray color and the wind had picked up blowing my hair in various directions.
"Im going to be away all Summer Kessley, plus I want you to make some friends." My dad said putting my suit case in the back of our jeep.
"Dad, Im 17 almost 18 I can take care of myself." I say leaning against the passenger door. He rolled his eyes.
"Yeah how did that turn out back in Florida." He stated, reffering to the time I played basketball home alone and somehow broke my leg and got a concussion.
"That was one time, almost two years ago!" I defended.
He laughed. "Lets go Kessley." He says getting in the drivers seat.
I sigh and open the door, plopping on the seat.
"Seat belt Kessy." He reminds me backing out of our driveway.
I strap myself in and start to fumble with the radio dials.
"Hey stop it on that station." He says as it stops on a 80s station and plays 'Brown Eyed Girl'.
He jokingly sings to me.
"Do you remember when- we used to sing sha la la la la la la." He sings to me.
"Dad stop." I say laughing.
"You're my - blue eyed girl." He sings changing the lyrics.
My dad always joked around ever since I was little he was always a pretty happy guy, until of course when I was around 7 and we lost mom. She's not dead though, she just left all of a sudden.
I leaned my seat back, put my shoes on the dash and stared out the window and we drove down the Texas interstate.
"You know I think you'll have a good time here." My dad says turning down the radio.
"Oh yeah?" I say rolling my eyes.
"Totally, which is just what you need since we just got to Texas. Someone to show you around and all, maybe even a boyfriend." He winks when he says the last part.
"Dad stop." I groan.
"I don't think I'll be ready for a relationship for awhile." I say picking at my finger nails.
"Kess, that was a year ago, he's gone and I'm sure you'll find a nice guy who'll treat you right sometime soon." He says.
"Yeah sure." I say staring at my shoes.
"Or girl. I don't judge." He says.
I laugh. "Im straight dad." I say.
"I know I know, I just want you to know that I'll accept you no matter what." He says giving me a cheesy smile.
I half smile back and continue staring out the window.

An hour had passed and we had arrived at the South Texas Camp for Teens. Also known as a boring summer camp that my dad is sending me off to while hes going to Japan for business.
From the outside appearance the camp looked boring, a huge brick building and beside it a couple cabins from what I can assume when farther down.
"This place looks nice." My dad says with a small smile closing the back door to the Jeep.
"Yeah." I mumble grabbing the smaller suit case and my black duffle bag.
