The Park Bench

I sit alone on the park bench

Watching

Lovers are kissing

Families are picnicking

Children are playing

Yet I sit alone

Young boys climbing trees

Little girls doing hair

And tiny babies laughing everywhere I look

Yet I sit alone

But then you walk up to me

My loneliness disappearing

You sit down beside me

And said hello

And that moment I can only think of one word

The simplest one I know

Hi

Now I sit on the park bench

Watching

Lovers are kissing

Families are picnicking

Children are playing

But now

There is only one difference

I sit with you
