Chapter 8: Let the Truth be Told

   (Samantha's pov)
  
   Mom came home three days ago and she seems to be doing fine. Right now I'm just sitting in my room thinking of how to explain this entire situation until there's a knock on my bedroom door.

   "Come in." I say as the door opens but I don't see who it is due to the fact my back is to the door. "Hey are you okay?" The voice of my girlfriend fills my ears. "We haven't talked much in the past two weeks. Jasmine and Roberto haven't heard anything from you at all and we've all been worried something might have happened." I feel the bed dip beside me letting me know she sat down. "Do you want to talk about it?"

   I turn over so that now I'm on my back as I look up at her, those green eyes of hers look into mine searching my soul for answers. "I'm sorry. I should have let you guys know." I paused taking a breath. "It's okay you don't have to talk about it I...." I cut her off. "No I should have talked to you. My mom got into a car crash the day after you left my house two weeks ago. She was in a comma for a week, they did x-rays and found cancerous tumors. They caught it too late my mom only has four months left." I let tears slip. "Oh babe I'm sorry." She pulls me up into her arms caressing my cheeks wiping away my tears.

   "T-that not all.... Um what I'm about to tell you I've never told anyone before. The only ones that know are me and my mom. Promise this won't make you look at me differently and that you won't say anything to anyone." "Sam I promise. Nothing could change the way I feel about you."

   I sigh before taking a deep breath. "Um about five years ago I was walking home alone late at night from the park. A man started following me, so I started to run home but he caught up with me. He um pulled me into an alleyway.... And... And he took advantage of me... He beat me and rapped me.... I um I eventually found out a few months later that I was pregnant with his baby..." I paused as I was in tears. "Shhhh baby it's okay. Go on." She said comforting. "I was too far along and even if I wasn't I would have chosen the same thing. I kept her." "Her?" I nod my head yes. "Yea my baby girl." I smile a sad smile. "Where is your daughter now?" Nicole asked confused. "She's downstairs with my mom."

   It took Nicole a few seconds for it to register in her head. "Oh my gosh are you kidding? That little girl is your daughter." I nod my head. "Yea she is." I look down frowning. "Sam does she know?" I shake my head no. "I was thirteen... I didn't know the first thing in taking care of a baby. My mom helped I mean a lot. She basically raised her."

   It was silent for a few minutes until she spoke up. "I think you should tell her." Nicole said matter of factly. "I know and I want to but... I don't want her to hate me." "Babe she deserves to know the truth, better late than never. Plus you never know." I look down at my hands contemplating what to do. "Samantha you know it's the right thing to do." "I know. I know. It's just.... It's just what if she hates me forever?" "Babe she won't hate you. You're being overdramatic. Just breath." I take a deep breath calming down.

   "So when are you going to tell her?" She asked giving me a knowing look. "I'll tell her later. I promise but right now please just cuddle with me." She nods her head before we both get comfortable in my bed, I pull her closer to be. "Thank you." I whisper. "For what?" "For not looking at me differently after I told you." "Samantha like I said nothing will change my feelings for you." I smile as she kisses my cheek.

   ~Time skip~

   I'm sitting next to Nicole as I sit Alexis into my lap. My mom knows that I'm going to tell her so she sitting in the recliner. "Hey Lexi I have something that I need to talk to you about." She looks up at me. "Hmm? What is it Sammi?" "You know how... Um how am I going to put this...?" I stop to think as Alexis looks up at me confused. "I'm going to tell you the truth. I haven't been completely honest with you." "What you mean?" She asked all innocently. I look over to Nicole and she's giving me a thumbs up. I look over to my mom and she's smiling nodding her head for me to continue. "Well the thing is.... I'm um I'm your um mom." She looks more confused than ever.

   "Wait... What? Isn't that my Mami?" She ask pointing over to my mom. I shake my head then she looks over to my mom. "No sweety you're sitting in your Mami's lap. I'm your grandma." Alexis looks back over to me. "Mami?" She questions pointing at me so I nod my head. "Gramma?" She point's to my mom then looking back at me; I nod yes again. "Mami's girlfriend?" She points at Nicole, I giggle and nod my head.

   She looks up at me with a blank expression and I start to fear the worst. "I'm sorry. I should have told you from the start instead of letting you believe that I was your sister. I'm sorry baby girl." She stares for a few moments before her lips curl up into a face eating grin. I look at her face before speaking. "So you don't hate me?" She shakes her head before wrapping her arms around my neck hugging me tight. I hug back smiling as a tear slips from my eyes. Alexis looks up cupping my face wiping away my tears. "Why you crying Mami?" I smile. "These are tears of joy baby girl; I'm just happy." I say kissing her forehead.

   "Mami?" She looks up at me. "Yes Lexi?" "Can we watch tv?" She gives me the puppy dog eyes. "Sure baby girl what do you want to watch?" I ask as I put on the TV. "Once Upon a Time!" (I love this show.) I giggle at her enthusiasm. "Of course." I put it on and we all watch it for hours.
