The mansion was old, broken, and long forgotten. The walls had moss growing on them, and vines hung down from the ceiling. This beautiful, but a rather small mansion compared to others, was the victim of abandonment, and was forgotten in time. For the most part, that is.

In this mansion, there, -surprisingly enough-, was actually a spark of life, well, other than the mice and the occasional bats that resided there. Yes, I said 'spark of life' instead of simply 'human' or 'a slightly clueless and angsty teenage human', for she was neither of those things (well, perhaps the 'slightly clueless and angsty teenager' would work here, at least). No, she was not human. In fact, she was what the humans would call a 'fairy tale', 'mythical creature', or something of the sorts. A vampire; although slightly different from the others, was what she was. Her name, you ask?

Aisling.*

Although a rather simple name compared to her other fellow vampires', it is of much importance; especially when it came to her secret. What 'secret', you ask? Well, haha, you'll find out eventually. That is, if you actually wish to continue reading this story. But, who knows? This story could, and probably will, never be read nor acknowledged much. At least, not in this lifetime.

Back to Aisling, our wonderful (reverse) vampire.
. . .
Oh no, I didn't say anything about 'reverse'. I don't quite understand what you're saying.
. . .
Ok, I lied.

Well, anyway, yes, Aisling just so happens to not be a normal vampire, per say. Oh, no, she was actually a 'reverse vampire'. Basically, this rather rare occurrence in vampires, those with it being called 'reverse vampires', can stay out during the day, they like the light (most of them do, anyway), and many decide to go to bed at night. Yes, they're basically a lot like humans. Except, they still need blood, because they are still vampires, but they don't necessarily need human's. They can just feed off of animals, any animal you can think of, really.

There's a one in ten thousand chance of vampires being born as these reverse vampires. So, yes, like I said before, it is very rare to be born as one.

That doesn't mean that the 'normal' vampires think this is acceptable in their 'perfect' society.

Well, I've gone on long enough about Aisling and reverse vampires. Geez, I need to stop.

-----

Aisling, all alone, in the abandoned mansion I mentioned before. She waited there, for many years, for them to return.

Mother and Father will return, I know they will. They promised. They've never broken a promise.

That's what she told herself, everyday.

Until one day, she gave up. They didn't return for her 16th birthday, and she came to terms with herself; her parents weren't ever coming back.

How could they? They had never broken a promise before.

'No', she told herself. They had broken that promise years ago. Many others were probably broken too, for Aisling soon realized on that day, that they didn't care about her.

They never had, had they?

. . .

No, they hadn't, because I just so happened to be born different. Why was I born like this; this world is cruel and unforgiving, especially to us vampires; it's almost as if we weren't supposed to be here in the first place?

     Who knows at this point?
