Chapter 3
Milliana.
The sound of my alarm caused me to scowl before I opened my eyes. I had slept but as usual Ariella was waking up randomly throughout the night.
"Ugh." I groaned and turned it off. I sat up against the headboard of my bed and yawned. Grabbing my phone, I unlocked the device and turned off all my other alarms. It was seven thirty am and I was not ready to get out of bed. I made the wrong decision of binge watching Teen Wolf all night, I can't help it, I had to know what happened to Stiles.
Yawning for the fifth time, I draped my legs to the side and pressed my feet to the floor, shivering at the coldness. I walked over to Ariella's crib to see her sleeping soundly like an angel. She looked just like her father. The same light auburn hair, his nose and lips. Due to his eyes being green and mine being blue with small details of green the colors clashed and made a mixture so beautiful, so perfect.
I headed into the shower, attempting to wash away the thoughts of Rafael that were making my heart and stomach tighten but I couldn't. Once again he had invaded my mind.
"Why Rafa? Why did you let me go?" I asked to myself under the hot water. 'We could have been such an amazing family.' I thought, I knew he would be an amazing father, he always wanted kids. He wanted so many little ones. The recollection of sentimental memories resurfaced in my mind.
Feeling the harsh hot water burn me I zoned back into reality.
Going back into my room, I rubbed lotion on myself and wore my undergarments. I then picked out my outfit. Tony -- the manager -- said a black skirt or jeans would work with a white shirt.
After ten minutes I was done, my hair freshly blow-dried and tied up into a bun. Applying nude lipstick, I put on low heeled pumps and headed out the room but not before giving Ari a kiss. Mum was in her study, she worked in HR for a publishing agency. I went in and she sat there busy at work.
"Mum, I'm leaving, have a good day. Now are you sure you don't want me to get a babysitter?" I asked and she shook her head with a smile.
"It's fine baby, now good luck on your first day." She answered and walked over to me. She used her soft hands to smooth out baby hairs that had escaped from my bun. Mum, being the amazing person she is, switched her shifts from morning to night so she could look after Ari. I would work from nine am to seven pm and she would leave for work at eight-fifteen pm and come back at two am. I insisted on getting a babysitter not wanting her to work that late but she refused, saying she was glad to spend more time with Ariella.
"Thank you." I told her sincerely as she kisses my forehead. I left the room and opened the front door, leaving the house.
Heading to the station I take the train to work. I arrived to the area with no difficulty. Looking at my phone the time read eight-twenty. I had plenty of time before work started so I went to get a coffee. After my caffeine stop I still had fifteen minutes to spare but decided to go in thinking that if I was early I would have a good reputation.
"Let's do this." I mumbled to myself. Stepping inside of the elegant restaurant, I headed towards the staff room and got myself ready. Tony had informed me that their head waitress was sick so for today I'd be taking orders instead of filing and filling out paperwork. I didn't mind if I was getting paid. Getting out my notebook and pen, I headed out of the staff room and to see customers already coming in. I made my way to a table, ready to take my first order. It was a couple, the woman looked elegant, she was practically glowing as she sported a fresh face. Her partner looked at her lovingly and rubbed her plump belly.
Just as I was about to take their order I heard a familiar voice, a voice I had been yearning to hear, to comfort me. The voice belonged to a person who broke me.
"Tony I'll be back next week. Take care." He said.
"Will do sir, have a safe trip back." I heard Tony reply. Hearing his voice made me dizzy, nostalgic. All the emotions came back to me -- love, anger, hurt, confusion and betrayal. I hurried to the staff room but not before saying sorry to the waiting customers. I was in disbelief, why was he here? It was almost as if he was placed here to ruin this, this fresh start.
Tony came in and asked, "Hey what happened? Cara said you were looking like you were gonna be sick, you are looking pale." Bless him he was so nice and caring.
I simply replied "It's nothing, I just have a small fever."
He offered me to take the day off but I refused not wanting him to ruin my day or my job. He wouldn't be invading this part of my life too. Offering once again, I told him I'll be out for 15 minutes and he was more than happy to make sure I rested.
Peeking out the staff room, I was relieved to see him gone and I felt my heartbeat steady itself. I took another deep breath before exiting through the backdoor. I quickly walk to the park. 'That was close.' I thought and exhaled deeply whilst sitting down on a bench.
'Why was he here?' I asked myself, this doesn't seem to be his restaurant, when I was with him he never mentioned it. "Maybe he had business, Milliana, don't be stupid." I muttered only for myself to hear. It had been fifteen minutes so I was sure he left by now. Building up the confidence to go back, I took baby steps to the back door of the restaurant.
I'm back within minutes and I walk cautiously through the restaurant. Thankfully, or maybe unthankfully, I couldn't decide, he wasn't here, 'Was I imagining things?'
All I could hope for was that the rest of the day would go smoothly.
