A growl erupted from my mouth. Three against one is never fair, three against a female is just plain wrong. I couldn't run anywhere without giving away their position, I just hoped to dear God that he didn't cry. As if on cue, the sniffling of an upcoming whimper whistled by on the wind. They couldn't hear it, but I could feel my whole body tense at the sound. I needed to finish this up quickly.

I lunged, my hand reaching for the rifle in the first one's hands, pulling down the catch and swinging my leg up to connect with his jaw. Whisking the gun out of his clutches and flipping it over to hear the satisfying tinkle of bullets hitting the ground.

His companions were slow in their reactions, he was already out cold by the time I used his own weapon against them, jabbing the butt of the rifle under the chin of the larger one, knocking his head back for six, causing him to stagger back onto the third.

I didn't waste anytime, knowing it would only be a matter of seconds before the smaller one wriggled out from underneath the weight of the lard tub of a man who was restricting him. I leapt on top of their bodies, my foot pinning down the unconscious man's chest. I bent down my eyes piercing the disgusted gaze of the struggling companion.

"Take your rope and tie your friends to the tree, radio in and tell them you've found them going rabid in the woods. Or those kids of yours won't make it back safe."

From the widening of his eyes I could tell the fear had grasped hold of him.

"Did you really think, I would be here without friends of my own. Do what I said. NOW!" I barked. Wrenching his body from underneath the second one. I glared in his eyes letting another growl rumble from within my chest.

I turned on my heel and ran like the hounds of hell were snapping at my feet, avoiding stepping into wet mud or soft ground. I couldn't afford to leave tracks anymore. Tree growth became thicker the further I ran and I found myself having to slow my pace to avoid leaving a trail.

I stopped dead in my tracks as the smell of fresh blood rolled over me in waves. My head snapped around twisting this way and that to find the direction that the odour was coming from. I didn't have time to second guess my senses and scrambled down towards the the sound of the running stream.

A thicket of bushes covered the entrance to the cave where I knew the stench was coming from, with the stream being only 15 ft away I knew that I had to act fast. Diving into the barely visible gap between the bushes, I prayed that the blood wasn't his.

I found him curled up in a ball beside his sister, his uncle trying to wrap his body around them. Relief swept over them to see them relatively unharmed, I peered into the darkness trying to find a blanket or anything to cover their bodies with when I stumbled over something. I lifted my hand to my face to see it slick with liquid, I tilted my nose to it already knowing what the substance was. Blood, his blood.

"Reece, Reece, answer me." Tears were silently pouring down my face in buckets, but it was too late I knew he had already gone.

I fumbled my way through the dark, jerking their uncle awake. "We need to leave. NOW!" My tone must have said it all, as he scooped up his niece without a word. I yanked the emergency backpack from within crevice on the wall and slung it over my back.

I hurriedly picked up his nephew ticking his shivering body into my shirt. I was the only one clothed, I didn't expect their fevers to break so quickly.

We didn't waste time with teary goodbyes, we just slipped out of the gap and sprinted through the Forest. Twisting and turning, avoiding ground that would give away our intent and direction. We screeched to a halt as tarmac cut through the dense trees cleanly. Several trucks were parked suspiciously on one side, I thrust out an arm to stop their uncle from moving forward any further and slunk back into the shadows of the Forest.

"Are they bystanders or do I need to take care of them?"

Their uncle looked pensive for a moment and then his faced contorted with extreme concentration and pain. I stood unable to help him, their wasn't enough time to.

"Teenage boys, they're innocent."

I nodded my head solemnly.

"Stay here, I'll get the car. That shouldn't raise too much alarm."

He looked uncomfortable but he knew he had no choice. My feet slammed against the harshness of the tarmac. Swiftly moving to the low riding car, that was parked - hopefully - inconspicuously on a dirt track just beside the road.

I wrenched open the door and clambered in to the driving seat, now not caring if my behaviour was seen to be suspicious by the frat boys on the other side of the road. I just needed to get out of here, fast.

I slammed on the gas and screeched off to further up the dirt trail. My eyes searched in the thicket of the trees but couldn't find their uncle anywhere. The oncoming sound of crying was the only thing that caused me to judder to a stop, as my foot lad lined the brake pedal. I swung open the car door and stared down at the floor at his shivering niece bawling her eyes out on the floor. I hoisted her up on my hip as her sleeping brother snuggled closer into my shirt.

I didn't have time for their uncle to be playing around, they were out there and soon enough that third one will realise that it was an empty threat. I hissed his name under my breath, my eyes scouring the landscape, until my heated gaze rested on a tree. Crap.

I slammed the door of the car, tucking his neice into the makeshift bed in the back seat, petting his nephew on the head while he slept. The screeching of tyres and a trail of dust all that was left behind. My eyes shifted to the rear view mirror as I looked at the bark of the tree again, three claw marks deeply ingrained into the bark, the silver hilter knife that was stuck into the middle mark still had a little fresh blood on it. A mixture between a growl and roar lingered on the wind and my foot slammed on the gas.

What little emotions I had felt back in the cave, dismissed as the main thought in my mind was to survive. But not before whispering back into the breeze hoping that it carried my voice to their Uncle and to Reece.

"I will find them, and when I do we will stop them from ever hurting us ever again."

A/N: Okay so this for those of you who voted for the second option of a mate, teen-fic kinda thing. The only reason I'm seperating it off is to stop confusion and I want the other one to be for me. So even if you DON'T like it. I do. If you want something else (like this) I'll give it, but it won't exactly be my best work. You were fore warned.
