THE STREETS OF THE CITY - LATER

Kara and Robert sitting in the parked car, frustrated.

KARA
"We have been to five jewelry shops and they all looked at us as if we're crazy. All we want is a ring."

ROBERT
"Maybe we are to them. But we moved the universe."

KARA
"We moved the universe..."
(they quick kiss again)
"Still... if you were a wedding ring of the universe, where would you hide?"

Robert quiet,

ROBERT
"Your parents will never accept me, you know that don't you?"

KARA
"They don't have to; I'm the only one that has to do that."

ROBERT
"What about the kids?"

KARA
"They'll find us. They will. Give them time."

Robert concerned as she silently consoles him. Then he sees it out of the corner of his eye, he looks at it, a shop across the street.

ROBERT
"Come on, I have a hunch."

Kara and Robert get out of the car and head for the

UNIVERSAL PAWN SHOP

The sign is large as Kara and Robert look at it, then each other,

KARA
"Is it possible?"

ROBERT
"Do we have anything to lose?"

KARA
"Lead the way..."

INSIDE THE UNIVERSAL PAWN SHOP - MOMENTS LATER

An old man, behind the counter, sees them come in. He observes them as they look at the ring assortment. Kara and Robert see it, the ring,

OLD MAN
"Can I help you?"

ROBERT
"This ring, how much?"

The old man looks at it,

OLD MAN
"Five hundred dollars plus tax."

Robert deflated, Kara looks at him,

ROBERT
"I don't have five hundred dollars, I only have ten dollars. Damn it!"

KARA
"No problem."

ROBERT
"Kara..."

KARA
"Shut up Army. There are some things you still have to learn about me. We moved the universe. You don't think I'm going to let a measly five hundred dollars stand in our way after that accomplishment do you?"

She kisses him. Turns to the old man,

KARA (CONT'D)
"We want that ring. May I try it on?"

OLD MAN
"You buying it?"

KARA
"Yes. Do you size?"

OLD MAN
"Yeah, I can size. Huh... Perfect fit."

KARA
"Yeah. I knew it would be. Five hundred even and you pay the tax."

OLD MAN
"Cash?"

KARA
"Cash."

OLD MAN
"It's yours."

The transaction takes place as Robert, his pride hurt, browses the store when he sees it, the sword mounted on a large wooden shield. He examines it, and shakes a little, remembering. Kara approaches him smiling, looking at the ring in the ring box, and then sees the sword.

KARA
"Is that..."

ROBERT
"I think it is..."

KARA
"Let's get it."

ROBERT
"It wasn't in the blue room. We have to do this right. It can wait."

Kara turns to the old man,

KARA
"How much for the sword?"

OLD MAN
"Two hundred dollars. It's suppose to be some type of magical sword, if you believe in that nonsense."

KARA
(to Robert)
"Maybe not magical, but very special."
(to the old man)
"Any takers?"

OLD MAN
"Not yet."

KARA
"Can you hold it for us?"

OLD MAN
"Depends, you coming back for it?"

KARA
"Definitely."

OLD MAN
"I need some type of assurance..."

KARA
"Will a hundred dollars hold it?"

OLD MAN
"Yeah."

Kara pays and gets the receipt. She then grabs some business cards and they leave the building.

OUTSIDE

ROBERT
"Now what..."

KARA
(thinks)
"The baby!"
(softly, smiles)
"We have to make a baby."

ROBERT
"I guess we should get married first."

KARA
"That helps. We need to go."

ROBERT
"Where?"

KARA
"To the courthouse."

She takes his hand and they proceed to her car.
