Lloyd's POV:
'He got away! No! He has to pay for Shimmer's death!' The only problem with that motive is the fact that we're all in a bit of a predicament. Yeah, that vortex. Totally bad news. It has major suction.
Right now I'm sitting comfortably on a silk pillow drinking a cup of Earl Grey tea and eating a slice of strawberry cake...NO! (*Cole in the background* CAAAAAAAKE!!!!) Right now I'm holding on for dear life to Kai's hands, praying to God that I don't become"vortex-of-doom" food. All of us ninja were holding on to each other, all of us strung out in a line in midair. Here's the list of our human string. Cole is clutching a rock buried in the ground with both hands, Zane is holding Cole's right ankle in an iron grip (pun intended) with his right hand and gripping Jay's left ankle in his left hand, Jay is obviously being held onto by Zane and is clutching Kai's ankles with both hands, Kai is gripping my hands in his. As for me, well, I get to be the closest to the vortex thinking 'I'm gonna die,' as the gravity of the situation sinks in, all the while watching the loathed Morro disappear on the horizon.
'What do I do now?' I thought as the feeling of loss sank its bitter fangs into my heart once more. I struggled to suppress the urge to cry over Shimmer for the umpteenth time. What will my future be without her?
Shimmer's POV:
I was aroused from my slumber by the sun's rays dancing across the skin of my face from through the clouds. My head was pounding in time with my heart and my vision was mildly fuzzy. My arms and legs were sticky from the damp blood on them and my face was caked with dry blood.
'What is this? I thought I was dying.' I thought to myself as I rose from the wooden floor beneath me on shaky legs and an unbalanced body. I was battered and weak, but I still had fight in me. 'Calm down, Shimmer.' I ordered myself. 'Just focus on finding the others.'
At that point in time I notices the bounty was moving, courtesy of Nya and Sensei on the bridge. Wait, their expressions were...worried. What happened while I was out? Morro is no longer in the vicinity and the wind felt like it was moving in a circular, whipping motion. Morro gone. Circular, whipping motion. 'Oh no!' I screeched in my mind as I bolted to the railing of the bounty.
Just as I suspected. below me swirled an unruly looking vortex...leading strait to the cursed realm...and the ninja are about to be taken by the vortex!! 'I've gotta get down there!' I thought.
Without a second thought I gathered my energy and sprang from the deck and over the railing of the Bounty, heading strait for the
vortex and, specifically, Lloyd.
"LLOYD!!!" I cried out at the top of my lungs.
Lloyd's POV:
"LLOYD!!!" I hear from above me. I crane my neck to look up to be greeted by the sight of my Shimmer ALIVE! Battered and bloody, yes, but alive!
"SHIMMER!!!" I returned her call with a raspy cry of my own.
Letting go of Kai's right hand in order to free up my own, I reach out, clasping Shimmer's hand in my own. At this point Cole's grip was slipping and so was everyone else's on account of the strained grunts and tightening of grips from the others.
"I thought you were dead!" I scream over the roar of the vortex.
"I thought I was a goner, too!" She called back. "Look, I know what this is!" She continued, looking down, "It's a portal to the cursed realm! It will take one person or it will NEVER close!" She thought for a moment before looking directly into my eyes.
'Oh no! She's got that glint in her eyes again...' I thought. Then it hit me, "Shimmer I know what you're thinking! NO!!! Don't do it!!"
"I have to! You're in this 'cause of Morro and Morro was here 'cause of me! That coward is trying to finish you! Nya and Sensei can't help you without being taken themselves, all they can do is circle us!"
Tears prickled my eyes. I knew she was right, but I can't lose her! I thought she died, but here she is! I can't afford to lose her again. I could feel my bottom lip quivering.
"This world needs you more than it needs me." Shimmer said just loud enough for me to hear.
"No!! I won't let you! I LOVE YOU!!" I cried, my voice cracking and tears steadily leaking from my eyes in glistening salty droplets.
As soon as the words left my mouth she pressed her lips against mine in a kiss.
Shimmer's POV:
My heart aches to leave him, but I must. I love him too much to see him hurt. I pressed my lips against his in a goodbye kiss and as a distraction. His eyes were wide as I pulled away from the sudden kiss. "Goodbye Lloyd..." I choked out, tears threatening to fall from my eyes.
"Wha...?" was all he got out before I ripped my hand from his grasp.
I was drawn closer to the center of the portal, eyes glued on Lloyd. I saw him scream "NO!!! SHIMMER!!!" but I heard nothing. I saw the others scream as well.
The tears broke loose of my command and rolled down my face in cascades. The last thing I saw before the world of Ninjago faded was Lloyd: tears streaming down his boyishly handsome face as he reached for me with a pained expression plastered on his countenance. I also managed to see the portal shrink some in my peripheral. 'I did it. I did my job. I saved them.' were my last thoughts, surrendering to my fate, before I blacked out from both lack of energy and the effects of the portal.
So that is chapter 14. I hope you enjoyed it! I was debating whether to write this chapter tonight or tomorrow, but I decided on tonight. You can all thank @NyaMori for me writing it tonight. Anyway, I'm on Christmas break now so have a great Christmas break guys!
