Chapter 1 - Masquerade

I walk down the stairs with my long, black dress and my black heels. "Sweetie, you look amazing!" My mom says while snapping a photo. "Your mother is right darling, you look great." "Thanks mom, thanks dad. The two of you don't look so bad youselves." They both laugh while the doorbell rings. "Oh right, I forgot to tell you, Caroline got me a date." My mom frowns. "Caroline Forbes? She's such a wonderful girl. Who's the guy?" "Some Tyler Lockwood." My dad claps his hands. "How great! Have fun honey." They both give me a kiss while I walk outside.

"Hey, I'm Tyler." He says while kissing my hand. I laugh. "I'm Rosalie, but please just say Rose." He smiles and we get into this car. It's a fancy car I can tell, he must be loaded as well. Lockwood... I've heard that before... Isn't his mother Mayor Lockwood? Ah, whatever, I'll probably meet her tonight anyways.

We pull up in front of the mayors house, There's people everywhere, it looks like the whole damn town came here tonight! who am I kidding, they probably all did. Tyler helps me get out of the car and we both put our masks up. "You look great." He says when I check myself in the car mirror. I blush. "Thanks, you don't look so bad yourself. We laugh while walking towards the front door, where we both get a glass of champagne. "Excuse me, I have to find my mother, I'll find you later!" I nod and he dissapears in the crowd. A little while later, he and an older woman appear. "Rose, this is my mother." I shake her hand and smile. "Hi miss! Nice to meet you, I'm Rosalie Labonair." She smiles back. "Nice to meet you dear. Labonair, you said?" I nod and she frowns. "Your family has quite a history in this town. a good one, don't worry." We all laugh. "Excuse me, I have to talk to some guests. Nice meeting you again!" And she dissapears in the crowd. "Your mom seems nice." He smiles. "Tyler!" I hear my dads voice and I see him shaking hands with Tyler. "Robbert! How have you been? How's the new job?" What the hell, they know each other? "It's been great son, Thankyou. How are you and your mom? I'm so sorry about your father, he was a dear friend to me." Tyler nods. "We're good now. But hey, enjoy the party!" My dad nods, presses a kiss on my cheeck and walks into the crowd. "You know my father?" He looks suprised. "That's your father?!" I laugh. "Uhm, yeah." "Wow, didn't expect that. He lived here before he got you, he went to school with my dad, and they stayed good friends and business partners. Your dad is now taking over my dads company in town." I nod. "I'm not so involved in my dad's work. But why didn't I ever met you and your family?" He nods. "That's what we always wondered as well. He always came here alone with your mother." I frown. "Whatever. Now let's get more drinks!" We laugh and walk towards the drink table.

"There he is!" A blond guy and two girls join us and Tyler hugs them. "What do you say if we go get something to drink in my dad's office? Rose, wanna join?" I nod. "Sure, why not." one of the girls looks mad at me, which makes me giggle a litle. We enter the office and Matt's pours us some shots. "You know, most of the times it's me making you drink, I like it this way!" Tyler says to Matt and we all take our shots. "Let's go party!" one of the girls yells and we get back to the party.

I have to admit, Tyler is really hot, I have to thank Caroline for this. A guy from across the room waves at me. Oh no, the creep from the bar. I quickly put my glass down and drag Tyler to the dance floor. "I like the way you're think." he says and we laugh. I see the two girls whisper and than the mad one walks outside. "Rose!" I see Caroline standing in the hall and I walk towards her and hug her. "Who's that with Matt?" She asks and I follow her lookings. "No idea. They keep hanging around him and Tyler, it's annoying as fuck." We laugh untill her phone buzzes. "Excuse me, I'll see you later!" and she walks away. I get back to Tyler. "Matt?" he asks me and I laugh. "Yep. What's the deal with those two?" he frowns. "They dated, but than she broke up with him for no good reason." I wrap my arms around his neck when the music begins to slow down. "Hey, you coming?" We follow Matt and the girl named Sarah back to the office where we all get a drink. "Whatever happened to Amy?" Sarah says, guess that's the name of the mad one. "Probably drunk somewhere." Tyler says and we all laugh. "Like me." Matt says while pouring bourbon all over the floor.
