It was Sunday morning and Jaliyah was getting ready for church; playing her favorite gospel songs. Daevion thinks religion is for idiots. He hates it and he doesn't want Jaliyah to even think about anything that involves God but, he had some business to take care of and wouldn't be back until later.
Jaliyah was raised a Christian. She grew up singing in the church choir and going to Sunday school but all of that changed three years ago when she met Daevion.
He was the boy that all the girls liked and he was used to getting any girls he wanted, except for Jaliyah. She didn't pay him any attention and that's what made him want her even more.
"WHAT THE HELL DID I TELL YOU ABOUT LISTENING TO THIS BULLSHIT?!" Daevion yelled as he grabbed her phone and threw it at the wall.
"You believe in God, Jaliyah? What has he done for you? I do everything for you, don't I?" He yelled as he grabbed her by her arm. "Answer me!" He demanded.
She held her head down crying. "Yes, you do everything for me. I'm sorry. It won't happen again."
"I'm getting really tired of hearing you say that."
"I'm getting really tired of hearing you say you won't hit me again but then you hit me again."
His response to that, was slapping her across the face.
"You ain't gotta worry about me saying it no more." He said before walking out. Leaving her on the bathroom floor to cry alone.
"Why me?" She thought to herself.
Flashback
"Girl, Daevion been staring at you since you sat down." Jaliyah's boy crazy friend, Erica says.
"Who's he?" Jaliyah asked.
"You've got to be kidding me." She says shocked. "Daevion is like the cutest boy in school. It's every girls dream to be with him. Even mine."
"Not mine." Jaliyah says, her father warned her about boys like Daevion.
"That's why I'm your only friend." Erica says while rolling her eyes.
Flashback Over
Jaliyah cried her heart out. Why did I fall into his trap? And why can't I escape? Questions she constantly asked herself.
But she hasn't received an answer.
