"Eyes up guardian." The first words I had heard in centuries. My mind, old yet new, spun a moment before registering the words. Thousands of fragments of different memories swam through my mind, sorting out the essentials from bits of my old life. My eyes opened slowly, my body being whole once more, as I struggled to move. "It worked, you're alive! You don't know how long I've been looking for you." There it was again. That voice. As my vision came into a full focus I saw this little... creature, floating about eye level. It looked like a star, but with multiple sections centered around a small sphere. These sections were currently spinning and shifting, it seemed excited. "What are you" I asked, my voice coming out more like a raspy growl. "I am a ghost. Actually I'm your ghost, and you.... well you've been dead a very long time. So you're going to se a lot of things you won't understand. The worlds a very different place from what it was. And very dangerous" Just as the little star, the ghost, finished its sentence, several blue jagged lines streaked through the air beside him. "The fallen have found us, I need to get you out of here. I remember seeing a ship in a building not far from here. I'll mark it on your helmets map. We need to hurry." I stood up, my leg strength slowly coming back to me, and started to walk, speeding up as my legs strengthened. I headed in the general direction the star was in, it seemed to be pointing to a rusted out building. I got inside and stopped. It was beyond dark, as if the building was void of light. Just then the... my.. ghost, appeared above my shoulder shining brightly, of illuminating the space around me for a few feet. "Lets get to that ship, and hope we don't encounter fallen. Here, take this incase." As he spoke something appeared against the wall beside me. "It's a bit old and under powered but it'll do the job. Hope you know how to use it. " I picked it up and looked at it, fragments of memories came together as I did. I slapped a magazine in, and sent the bolt home as instinct from my past life took over. I nodded and started to walk towards my new destination, rifle at the ready just to be safe.
As we worked our way through the building, the radar stayed pretty clear. I thought we were safe, but as we reached the ship all hell broke loose. It started as one radar hit, then two, then several all around me. Next thing I know there are creatures flooding in all around me. I took out as many as I could, but there were to many for the small weapon I had. Luckily for me the ship was in good enough shape to fly short distances so my ghost brought me in before the fallen, as he called them, could over run me. "That was a close one guardian, you don't have enough weapons or armor to hold out against something like that yet. But you will soon. Let's get you to the tower, Commander Zavala will want to speak with you. He's the one in charge of everything you're now a part of. I'll explain what I can on the short flight we have, he can explain the rest. You did good back there guardian. I think I made the right choice." I sat in silence as my ghost explained everything. As he spoke, something inside me clicked, and I knew what he was telling me was my destiny. To protect the remainder of humanity from this... darkness, such as the fallen. And thus my story began again.
As my ghost took me back to what he called the Tower, he gave me a brief outline of what was going on. He told me about this thing called The Traveler, about the Golden Age of Humanity it brought about, and the Darkness that destroyed this Golden Age. He explained that I was a Guardian, more specifically I was a Titan. I strived for honor and stood for hope. I was a warrior. A heroic defender of the light. I channeled the gift of the Traveler to wage war on the darkness. I was able to harness three different abilities: Striker, Defender, and Sunbreaker. He told me it would be explained to me in more detail when we landed. As we approached the tower, I found myself staring in awe. It was massive. Hundreds of stories tall, looking out over what my ghost called the last city. We were dropped from the ship onto the main court of the top as the ship moved around automatically to the hanger. "Lets go find Commander Zavala, he's the head of the Titan Vanguard. " I nodded and my ghost led the way.
As we entered, I took in my surroundings. It was a decent sized room, computers and maps everywhere. In the middle was a large table with three people around it and many books and materials scattered across its vast surface. As my ghost and I approached, all three of them stopped and looked our way. "Welcome, guardian. I am commander Zavala, vanguard leader for the Titans. This is Ikora Ray the Warlock vanguard, and Cayde-6 the Hunter Vanguard. Come, young Titan, let's get you caught up. You have a lot to learn. " And so my training began.
