Sebastian's POV
"Everything." She replies immediately, her voice full of certainty and resolve.
I raise an eyebrow, "Everything? Well that would take a lot of time to explain." I say in a bored and nonchalant tone.
She huffs, not from exertion, from annoyance, "Sebastian." She says in a warning tone. I chuckle, completely unaffected, and she looks slightly put off, as if she's used to having people listen to her.
Not anymore, I think. "Look, princess-"
"Don't call me that!" She snaps, irritation shines bright in her crystalline eyes.
I only role my eyes, "Has anyone ever told you that interrupting is rude?" I taunt. It is so easy to push her buttons. I hear her mumble something, and from her tone it doesn't sound kind, "What was that?" I ask.
She looks forward but glares, "Look are you going to tell me anything or just play games with me? Because if that's all your going to do to I'm not going to put up with it." Her tone is annoyed and somewhat breathless but I can see the challenge in those blue eyes.
I scoff, "You really think you can take me down? Watch your ego Eva. You don't know what I am." I warn her.
Eva abruptly stops, so I come to a halt, "Then enlighten me. Please!" She shouts. Eva starts to stalk towards me aggravation clear in her blue eyes. I look down to face her. The sun is shinning down on her but I'm sure the glare on her face has nothing to do with the sun's harsh rays. Strands of her dark hair have come out of her pony tail and frame her pale oval face. Her breathing is now heavy and her fist curl and uncurl by her sides.
I shake myself out of the unseemly thoughts that are skirting around the edges of mind. I slyly take a step away from her, pulling it off as just lazily stretching, putting space between us is the best for both of us.
I scoff, an act of annoyance, "Even if I told you everything right now, which I wouldn't, your mind wouldn't be able to handle it. You would probably go insane."
Eva fixes me with another icy yet useless stare, "Why is everything so difficult with you?" She snaps. "All you do is talk in circles!" She exclaims throwing her arms out to her sides.
I regard her outburst quietly, "Are you done yet?" I inquire, boredom evident in my tone. While she was attractive she was still very infuriating.
Eva stares at me deadpanned, dropping her arms heavily at her sides and then glowering at me, "You know what Sebastian, fu-"
"Okay!" I say clapping my hands loud, the sound projecting over her profanities. "Look I can't explain everything to you in one go, okay? It's too much, even for me. So you can ask me one thing for tonight as we make it back to your place. But it's going take time for everything to be revealed." I propose the idea in a seemingly hurried and frayed way. Deceiving her into believing that I am finally bending under her will. This is where I would start working towards the deal that Gywn and I had made not that long ago.
Eva and I stand there staring at each other. I could see the gears shifting in her mind as she shifts from one foot to the other, trying to come to her own conclusion. I wait patiently, my hands now in my pockets. I opted on turning my head to look at the setting sun. The heat actually feels nice for once.
I hear a sigh escape from her lips, "Fine. One question, each time that I see you and no trying to avoid answering them." She demands.
I smirk at how she thinks she is in charge and can dictate the terms of our agreement. I'll let her believe it, for now, "Alright, deal." I say flashing my teeth and she holds out her hand. I smoothly slip mine into hers and shake.
We end up staying like that longer than necessary, staring at each other. Eva's blue eyes look so intently into mine, cool, calculating, and...curious. The last emotion has me shocked and unnerved. It was such and innocent and inquiring curiosity and all of a sudden her gaze was to intense. I look to our still joined hands. Her hand is unexpectedly rough, not smoothed out by products, but calloused by training and whatever could make her hands feel like mine. I remember my earlier comment. While it was not uncommon for women to fight in my world I didn't fully comprehend mundane females learning to fight. I find myself overwhelmed and pathetically look away and slip my hand out of hers.
I see her give me a weird look out the corner of my eye. I brace myself for an onslaught of questions or verbal slander towards my behavior but instead she shrugs and starts walking. She looks completely and utterly unfazed about the interaction.
I follow her lead fall into step beside her. A few moments of silence pass before she breaks it, "So I get one question. Right?" A cheeky grin, that is on full display, accompanies the question.
I nod, not fully facing her, "Yes. But seeing as how we're getting closer to your home I suggest that you hurry. I'm sure you wouldn't want me to meet your parents just yet." I say with a smirk.
Eva turns her face, tucking her chin into her shoulder, but not before I see the pink covering her cheeks, "Yeah," she mumbles. I see her take a deepth breath before taking a page from my book and looking forward, not making eye contact.
"Well." I egg her on trying to get the conversation back to the desired topic. I lightly bumped my arm against her shoulder.
Eva pushed me back and gave a weak half-hearted glare, "Well what?" She challenged. It was obvious what I was implying.
I roll my eyes at her. Why is she still trying to act tough with me? She must know it doesn't bother me. I think but my thoughts are soon interrupted as she finally asked her first question. One that sent the cold feeling of dread into my gut and regret for ever agreeing to do this in the first place.
"
What are you, Sebastian Morgenstern?"
