“So you hang out with Kurt?”
“Yeah, he is nice. I let him stay at my house last night.” I could practically see the jealousy in his eyes.
“You did,did you?”
“Yeah. He needed somewhere to stay.” The Melvins blared in the background.
“Cool. Would you like to go in or would you rather find somewhere quite to talk?” Chad asked.
“Well I rather have my hearing after the party, so somewhere quite.” I smiled. He grabbed my hand, which caught me off guard but it was nice. We could still see people pouring into Krist’s house. It was like one of those cheesy high-school party scenes.
Chad took me over to a bench that was off to the side of the house. I could still faintly hear the Melvin’s playing. “I will be right back, I am going to go get something to drink. Would you like anything?”
“A beer would be fine, thanks”
“Okay I will get it as fast as I can.”
Chad must of ran to get those drinks because it seemed like he was there in a matter of seconds.
“Here you go”
“Thanks” He handed me the red solo cup.
“So.. I think I might just come out and say it..”
“What,come-on Chad tell me.”
“Well if you would let me finish…”He chuckled “I was saying that I wanted to tell you that I..um..I really like you.”
“Oh” I didn’t know what to say. No one had ever told me that. “ Yeah but I like you too” I smiled. I basically whispered. All at once time stood still and our lips met. He smelled of beer and honey. It was soft and soothing.
“Well that was unexpected.” I smiled
“Yeah, well sometimes the best things are unexpected. Well, would you like to go in, it’s getting a little cold.”
“Yeah that would be great”
He grabbed my hand. It was nice. I wasn’t for sure if we were dating or if it was just a onetime thing. Once inside Ac/Dc was blaring. The smell of weed almost overwhelmed me. I could already tell that I wouldn’t be able to show up at my house.
“Hey Zoe I have been looking for you.” Kurt slurred.
“Oh Hey Kurt…Um are you okay, you don’t look well.”
It took a long time for him to respond.
“Yeah…. I just..took some stuff.”
“Umm maybe you should sit down for a while.” Chad chimed in
“I don’t need any of your shit. I was talking to Zoe”
I whispered in Chad’s ear to give me a Kurt a second.
“Would you like to sit down and talk?”
“Nope….But Krist and I started a band earlier.”
“Oh that is awesome Kurt. I am so happy for you!”
“Thanks”
“HEYY ZOE” Krist came over and wrapped his long arm around my shoulder. I barley came up to his arm pit.” I haven’t got to talk to you all night. I saw you and Chad over there k-i-s-s-“
“That is enough” I told him
“So you and Chad are dating now?” Kurt asked.
“It was just a kiss.”I didn’t notice Chad behind me. I could see the hurt in his eyes.
“Yeah,Kurt, it was just a kiss.” With that Chad walked away.
“Oh.” Kurt then walked away,
“Hey Zoe, I didn’t mean to start anything. I was just having some fun. I will talk to Chad if you want me to?”
“Nah I can take care of it. I will see later Krist. I will be back in a few for Kurt”
“Okay,I am really sorry Zoe.”
“No big deal.” My feelings were hurt. It wasn’t just a kiss. It was my first kiss. I really liked Chad and I didn’t want to screw it up.

“Chad come here. Please”
“Zoe no need to apologize. I don’t need a pity party.”
I grabbed his arm. “Would you just listen to me. Kurt is tripping on something so is Krist, with that being Kurt was agitated. I didn’t want to start something about me kissing you in there. I do really like you and I don’t want to mess this u-“ Our lips met once more, this time with more passion. His hands were on my cheeks. It was soft and sweet.
“No need to worry anymore.”
“I think I am ready to go home. Do I smell of weed?”
“Yeah, but I will get you some clothes from Shelli you can change into.”
“Thanks. I will get Kurt. Just don’t say anything to him on the ride home okay? I rather not have to deal with that.”
“Okay.” Chad was such a soft spoken guy.
I followed Chad into the house. I walked around for what seemed like forever trying to find Kurt. He was sitting on the sofa staring off into space.
“Hey Kurt.” No answer “Kurt” I touched his lanky arm.
“Yeah?” He looked surprised.
“It’s time to go home.”
“Okay.”
“I am going to take you to the truck, the comeback in and change clothes.”
“Okay.”
“Will you sit and wait for me while I change clothes?”
“Yeah.
I walked Kurt to the truck and helped him get in. “I will be right back”
I met Chad behind the house with the clothes. “Now don’t look while I change and shield me from peeping eyes”
“I promise not to look.” He stood in front of me.
“Thanks. Also thanks for a great time tonight.”
“Same to you. Let’s get you home.”

Kurt was already in the house. Probably headed to my room to pass out.
“I will see you tomorrow?”
“Of course”
“Goodnight”
He kissed me “Goodnight.” I walked inside as he walked to his truck.
