I woke up tired. Jet lag is something I don't want to experience again, it's physically draining.

"Mother...?" I say, knocking on the bedroom door, with no answer being heard.

I check my phone to find a text from her instead:

To: Tessa

From: Mother

your father and I will be out all day. Be careful if your leaving the house. A huge storm is coming, estimated to start at 3:00pm, you have to be Back well before then, the power might cut.

I read my mothers text and decide to go get some coffee or hot chocolate from a café. Maybe even go buy some food for the fridge, as we had nothing apart from complimentary Tea Bags.

I put on my high-waisted black jeans with my white converse. I then had the hard decision of choosing either a shirt and jacket or a sweater. I chose shirt and jacket. I put on a mid-waisted, loose white shirt and then my black jacket.

I grab the key to our house and £60 I found on the counter.

The elevator rides are agonisingly slow and creepy, especially in this weather, it was already 11:30 and the wind was blowing like crazy.

I walk into a local coffee shop and order a large hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows. It was a real treat. The warm chocolate soothed my cold throat and the slightly melted marshmallows added the perfect sweet taste.

When I decide to leave, I see a tall young man, wearing a trench coat, very tight black jeans and a beanie, disgusting his hair, (except the few strands that poke out the front). He looks like a local, so I ask him how to get to the nearest food shops.

"hi, sorry do you know where any food shops are?" I say, politely.

After a moment of him staring at me confused, he speaks "yeah, um, Tesco's is to the right about 100 meters up the street..." I thanked him and left, looking for Tesco's

Tesco's was filled with people, obviously buying food before the storm came. At this point I'm almost positive the saying 'the calm before the storm' either wasn't true, or didn't apply to this situation, because this, was definitely not calm.

Whilst in the fruit section I pick up Bananas, Apples and Grapes, all of which looked quite fresh, despite the lack of variety left.

I also pick up some Chicken for dinner tonight as well as bread, a pack of 6 water bottles and some microwave Vegetables. Along with some sweets. I got Cola bottles, 1 Chocolate bar for mum, 1 for me and 1 for dad and a very large pack of sour worms. I was all set.
