That's Cold

A/N: I'm using a prompt... Well not really but it's from Beverly Hills Cop (my all time fave movie because Eddie Murphy and 80's) and I think it fits well with Poe. I'm not basing it modern au it's still in its normal au but both the reader and Poe are 19-20, the reader is also a young captain, most of it is in the readers POV. During the time I wrote this was the day after I saw Rogue One, I tried so hard not to cry. It was probably the greatest instalment to the saga considering it's a stand-alone film, but to me it's still an important piece to the plot. Oh, I also put a Overwatch reference in there 😂 if you spot it you're a genius also I'm using neutral pronouns for BB8 since I don't have a cannon for their gender, I hope you enjoy it I'm trying. Your POV:

It was a pretty hot day back at the base on D'Quar, I was busy with a conference all the officers, pilots and others, things were getting tight we were getting close to bringing the Order to its knees, each day passed and it was getting closer.

It was high noon and the meeting was drawing to an end I was beginning to lose focus because of the heat and tried my best to keep myself together. That was until I heard the sentence "meeting adjourned!" from the general, THANK GOD THAT'S OVER! I could finally go back to finishing up my report I needed to have done by the end of the day or the general would be sorely disappointed.

I made my way through the hangar when I saw Poe and BB-8 as usual exchanging conversation I could tell he valued and cared about that droid more than anything, they've always been his guardian.

"Hey captain (l/n)!" He said waving at me as I passed by the duo returning the gesture I do the same and smile.

I finally reach outside the hangar and feel a cool breeze I'd been waiting for all day, as I'm standing I hear a ambient noise coming from the sky. I look around to find the source but no sight, I'm sure it's another airship coming in back from a mission.

But the sound grew louder and closer and it didn't sound like one of the X wings. I look beyond the horizon and see a blurry line of black dots aligned in a V-shape coming towards the base. When they reached close I could make them out.... TIE FIGHTERS!.

They began firing towards the hangar and soon I began running back towards inside the hangar to alert everyone next thing I hear is the sound of TIE fighters flying nearby and see one coming towards me before I duck down.
I grabbed the closest gun and aimed and shot down one of them, next thing I notice is that there's more of them coming towards me and in an instant I dashed out of the hangar.

I had an idea and it was a really good one and probably a stupid one. I ran searching for Poe, I really need him to help me. Dodging past the firing from team members and pilots performing aerodynamic stunts, I keep running until I crashed into someone or something.

POE! I shouted surprised to see him again we both asked if we were okay, relieved to see him again he looked behind me next thing I know he had my hand and we were running. You were feeling terrified but excited at the same time as the both of you were running through and dogging the firing range dividing both sides.

"(Y/N)! YOU NEED TO FIND COVER I'M GOING FOR THE NEAREST AIRSHIP AND GONNA TRY AND TAKE THEM OUT!" He shouted as he dropped me to the safest place on the base where I wouldn't be in harms way.
