Reysing Hope

A/N: HA! See what I did there it's meant to be Raising but yeah ok I'm sorry. I wanted to do something different and I'm trying a mini Rey and teen reader who after is left behind the reader takes on and tries to raise her in hopes of one day she will grow up and find a better life from this planet. Bad summary but oh well I'm thinking of doing a series of mini Star Wars one shots of the characters as children do you guys think I should? Just leave a comment. I forgot the reader is 19 and Rey with my best guess is 7 and this kinda takes place before Force Awakens. Picture belongs to the original artist.

I was inside my hut when I heard the crying of a young girl from outside, the crying the grew louder and louder before I ran out to see her being dragged by someone. Using my instincts I grabbed my staff and charged against the man demanding to let go of the little girl.

"LET HER GO!" I screamed but that seemed to make the man laugh.

"Or what" he laughed with a sneer of disgust as his grip tightened around the girls arm.

That's when I smacked his arm letting the girl go who ran behind me hiding, the man had let out a scream before she tried to hit me and I had just managed to dodge in time before whacking him hard with me staff on the back of his head before he made a run for it.

After that I turned behind me to see the girl but she wasn't there and that's when I realised she was clinging onto my clothing behind me, her face buried into my legs.

"Hey are you ok?" I ask her turning around to bend down to her level as she faces me nodding her head in disagreement.

"What's your name?" I ask her seeing the sadness in her eyes.

"Rey" she said shyly.

"That's a lovely name Rey, my name is (y/n)" I say.

"Where are your parents Rey?"
I ask her but as she tried to answer my question she broke down into tears and ran into my chest crying.

I think I have an idea as to what might've happened to her parents and that she might've been left here on Jakku alone, so I didn't want to continue interrogating her and instead picked her up and took her into my home where she had already fallen asleep. Entering my room I gently placed Rey on my bed before tucking her in before I jumped in to join her.

I laid next to her gently stroking her hair and thinking about how she ended up here and where her parents are before I fell asleep.

~time skip to the next day~

I was up early making breakfast for Rey and I as I planned to go work which was scavenging for parts to be sold. I saw Rey come around the corner rubbing her eyes as she came to sit down at the table to eat.

"Morning Rey" I say smiling at her.

"Morning" she said as sat and ate her food.

"Did you sleep well last night?" I ask her and that's when her face lit up with a smile which was strange before she nodded.

"That's good hey Rey.." I say.

"Hmm" she said as her mouth was full.

"I need to ask you something, I'm going out to work today and I was wondering if you're gonna be fine on your own for a bit until I ..." I say before I was interrupted by Rey.

"No I don't want to be left alone (y/n)!" She shouts nodding her head.

I had a think for a minute and realised if I took her it would be too dangerous and risky but she could be helpful and I knew if I left her here who knows that man will come and get her and either sell her off as a slave or worse.
