Daehyun keyed in the access code and entered the apartment, then placed his shoes into the shoe cabinet quietly. The light at the entrance lit up automatically, making a sudden clicking sound which made Daehyun jump.
He swiftly recovered from the shock and glanced at the wall clock, which read ' 2.50 am '. In his peripheral vision, he caught a glimpse of a dark figure moving across the hall. Daehyun immediately stiffened. He suddenly remembered he had only been staying in this place for only a mere two days, and wasn't too familiar with the history of the apartment, and that his father would be asleep at this time.
Daehyun blinked his eyes multiple times, convincing himself that his eyes were playing a trick on him, and that he must have been too tired that he was having strange illusions. He threw his bag onto the floor and made his way into the kitchen to see if there was anything to eat. Just as he was about to open the rice cooker, a voice sounded from behind.
" Is that you, Daehyun? "
Daehyun immediately turned around to find out that it was his father standing behind him, dressed in striped pajamas.
" You came back at such a late time. Are you very tired? "
Seeing his father's worried expression, Daehyun quickly replied, " I'm just a little tired, but I'm fine. I was just going to check if you had left me any food in the rice cooker. "
" Alrights, go to bed as early as you can. Don't overwork yourself. " He gave his son an adoring pat on the back before walking out of the kitchen.
Daehyun opened the rice cooker. As usual, there was always a big bowl of rice and a few side dishes left for him. Although it had always been this way, today Daehyun felt strangely moved by the sight of the food left behind for him to eat. Especially when he had just became a trainee, he knew that he would be coming home late everyday after training, it was comforting knowing that at least one of his parents was there to care for him and leave him some food despite his coming home late.
From that moment on, Daehyun had decided that he must debut and make his parents who supported his dreams proud.
On weekdays when most trainees have to attend school, the morning training sessions were a lot quieter. Only trainees who do not attend college would be around. Daehyun decided to use this to his advantage, and take away more leaening points from the teachers.
It was his third day of training. On the timetable for Wednesdays, it consisted of well-being classes. Daehyun wasn't aware of what it meant. But he guessed the lesson might be something like how to take care of your skin those kind of things.
Once in the company's training block, he changed into a comfy tee and sweat pants, and reported to the venue for the first lesson, which was at the gym.
When he got there, there were only few trainees present. He had been careful not to be late, as he didn't want to get scolded the way Youngjae got scolded. Secondly, after the CEO confirmed personally that he would be debuting a boy group, Daehyun wanted to ensure he made no room for mistakes like latecoming.
" Good morning. " He greeted the trainer. The trainer who recognised Daehyun as a new trainee greeted him back and introduced himself as ' Trainer Jo '. As Daehyun walked to the back of the room to sit down, he could already feel the eyes of the other trainees on him. Daehyun looked away to avoid their gazes. He didn't want to stare back at them and get into a fight later on. Not during this crucial three month period.
On the first day of his training, the trainees who shared the same vocal training session had already learnt how good Daehyun was at singing and had treated him as a rival ever since.
