I came upon this letter by accident. I knew its arrival to my house was too early. I found it saddening to know this old friend of mine being in a manner such as the one he's informed me. The letter was strange, as if he meant to ask me something but trailed off in his own thoughts and decision making. No matter, I hence saddled my horse and made ready for my treacherous journey. He lived far, but i mustn't complain for that only made the journey longer and kept my friend waiting.
I traveled through one particular forest that gave me bone chilling sweats down the back of my neck, goosebumps that did not leave until i was through the last spread of trees, and fears from the various animal cries whose home was this wary wood. These were not just any simple animal cries though, they seemed more human, yes, like human cries, like the animals were in pain or giving signs of warning. I dared not stray my vision from anywhere but the narrow path, for I felt that if i looked upon the brush of the forest and was to see any form of beast and his yellow eyes, that my arrival to my dear friend's house would be in vain and i would only be in the same mental shape as he. So i kept my mind alert by recalling memories of us as young boys.
