Chapter 2

Alex

I see the train speeding towards me and the rest of the initiates. A Candor girl stares at the train, speeding towards us with her mouth wide open, "Are we supposed to JUMP on that thing!?" Great, Candor big mouths.

"Yeah," I say casually, "Don't make it and you become factionless." Her eyes open wide at the word "factionless".

I jump on. I see the Candor girl and a Amity boy struggling to get on. Both my parents transferred from Abnegation, so I had some Abnegation in me. I put out both my hands and they each took one. I pull them in.

"Ho..w... did.. you... do... that," The Candor girl asks, out of breath.

"I train." I reply causally.

Suddenly, I hear a scream.

"No! Beatrice! Please someone help her!" An Erudite girl is screaming. The one who was before me at the choosing. The first transfer. I see her looking down at another Erudite, probably a friend. I run towards the girl and lift her up.

"Thank you." She says panting. Her startling green eyes are wide from fear and her long, blonde hair is scattered along her shoulders. She looks a lot like my mother.

"No problem, I'm Alex." I stick out my hand.

"Beatrice." She shakes my hand a bit to tight. She is from Erudite after all.

"Beatrice!" The Erudite girl hugs her.

"I'm fine, Amanda," Beatrice tells her, "Alex, over here saved me." She points to me.

"Hello." I say to Amanda. She reminds me of Lauren, my mom and dad's friend.

She looks exactly the opposite from Beatrice. Her hair is so dark, it's almost black. It falls over her shoulders and makes her big brown eyes sharp.

"Hi," Amanda replies.

She opens her mouth, but before she can say anything, I look outside and see we are at Dauntless Headquarters.

"Jump!" I shout.
