Chapter 8: The Regretted Phone-Call

*Jerome*

 I was determined to find out what happened to Emily. I called her cell-phone and I was surprised when she answered and was surprised that I called. The conversation between us went sort of like this.

*Conversation Key: E=Emily and J=Jerome*

E- Hello? Who is this? How did you get my number and why are you contacting me?? And-

J- Hey Emily calm down, it's me Jerome and Jason told me about your note and even let me read it and I figured I'd call you to make sure that you're doing ok

E- Oh god Jerome, you scared me I thought it was like the mad killer that wanted to take away my own family...Oh god I just said everything that just happened Oh God forget everything I just said. EVERYHING!!!!!!

J- Emily settle it down a notch would you. I'm sorry if I'm coming across rude or anything but I'm just worried about you is all. I'm sorry but I-I kind of...ummmm.....

E- Jerome, spit it out already please. I'm not in the mood. I'm tired and confused and a little bit upset...ok and I-I'm sorry Jerome but I need to go, I-I'm sooo sorry Jerome but if anything happens to me...just say that you didn't know me...it's better for everyo-AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!

*Jerome*

It was odd I mean like it sounded like she was happy to hear my voice but she was a little anxious like someone was going after her- "Wait that's it!!"

*Jason*

"Um Jerome are you ok there?" He apparently didn't see nor hear me right next to him in the guest room or Emily's room, or whatever you wanna call it!!! Anyway he was looking alittle teary eyed and upset and angry that he didn't get what he was looking for or trying to figure it out why Emily left in the first place.

*Jerome*

"Huh...oh ya ummm...yep I'm totally ok here...nothing to worry about." I said as I was rubbing the tears out of my eyes. Hopefully Jason didn't notice that I started tearing up a bit after my awkward and terrorfying phone conversation with Emily.

*Jason*

"So if it's ok can I ask what's going on? Like why Emily might of left or even how it's going with the family?"

*Jerome*

"Umm well she...-explained the whole conversation with Emily to Jason-and it all ended with her screaming 'AAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!'

*Jason*   "So let me get this straight, you were having a pretty good with her and then she said that if anyone asks you didn't know her and then she screamed...wow." Fact: I was surprised that Emily pretended to be like almost killed or kidnapped instead of just saying to Jerome 'Hey I don't wanna talk right now ok?' And end it there. No feelings hurt. "So do you think she was pretending to be kidnapped or somehing jus as and excuse to not talk to you?"  

*Jerome*

"Well, in a way yes because it was so out of the blue. But, in the way no because I can feel deep in my gut that she was telling the truth or isn't lying about all of this." When explaining the conversation to Jason I onpurpose left out the part where Emily basically told me that someone was out to get her and her family. In a way yes I regret calling Emily but in another way I'm happy I did because now I have a pretty good feeling of why she left. But will those clues eventually lead to where she is and if she's safe?
