Beth took a bad fall from the huge magnolia tree in their backyard, while trying to untangle her kite from one of its branches.  she died almost instantly, as her neck broke when she hit the ground.

Anna hadn't actually witnessed her death.  she was inside the house, in the kitchen. sneaking several milk pastries from the fridge.   she was going to share it with Beth so they could have something to eat while they played under the tree.

she'd catched one, fleeting look at Beth's body lying on a petal position on the ground, and her once, lovely, baby blue eyes staring lifelessly back at her, and she had fainted.

for nights, she'd had nightmares about Beth in her sleep.

and during her waking moments, she had missed her cousin a great deal.

Now, there she was, calling her name.  holding out one, small hand for her to take.

" what are you waiting for Annie? come on, we still have to play Mrs. Turner and we're gonna be late for tea time!" Beth shouted at her impatiently.
