Anna squeezed her eyes shut tightly, to blot out all the sounds as she tried to make her decision.

but everytime she does, an image of Carl was all she could think about.

the way his eyes glittered like emeralds when he smiled at her, how frightening he looked when he attacked Clide. how soft, yet cold his lips were against hers.

the way his body molded perfectly on hers while his arms enfolded her.

as if they were made exactly to fit the other.

the delicious sound of his laughter, and the way he looked when she told him she loved him.

they've been together for such, a short time.  and yet,  she felt like she had known him all her life.

could she really give all that up? could she stand not to see his beautiful face ever again?

the answer hit her squarely like a champion archer's arrow.

No, how could she? when the very, thought of even picturing a world without Carl in it, fills her entire being with dread so strong, it shook her to the core.
