Reko.

"We cleared the ground floor. No more civilians. Antonio says their on floor 14." Dante said.

"We're coming in." I replied. I signaled to my men. We had the whole casino surrounded and none of my enemies would leave alive.

We met Dante and Antonio at back steps while our dummies went straight to the elevator.

Up we went. All around we heard gunfire, yelling, and moaning. I had one of the guards headsets so I had the upper hand and we made sure no cameras could capture our faces.

We offered no mercy to anyone who worked for Giovanni. Stictly shooting first and asking questions later. They were all tratiors who'd rebelled against my place as head of mafia and I no longer gave second chances. Floor by floor, up we went. Giovanni's men dwindled and my men had no casualties. We were winning. We had one more corner to round on the 14th floor and I heard Giovanni's voice.

"Reko! I would think twice before I shot around this corner blindly. I have Antonio, Ebony & two people you'd really be surprised to see.!"

We paused.

"Put away your guns. Let's all talk civilly." I nodded at my men.

"Done." I said.

We slowly rounded the corner and I saw them Ebony, Antonio... My mother and a little girl who only could've been my little sister.

"Reko!" She said yanking away from her guard and running to me.

"Gabby!" My mom shouted as Giovanni shot at us. I grabbed the little girl and spun taking two bullets, one in my arm and one in the back as I shielded her.

"You'd shoot at your own neice! You bastard!" My mom yelled at Giovanni while he ran.

I fell, my men rushed forward. Emilee grabbed Gabby while Ebony smashed one guard in the head with her bottle, simultaneously pulling out a gun shooting Antonio in the leg, disarming him, taking out 3 other guards & trying to shoot Giovanni as he ran while protecting my mother. She was amazing. My men finished off the rest while she got my mom to safety. Giovanni continued to run. She managed to shoot the gun out of Giovanni's hand as he ran to a room typing in a code and it locked behind him.

Ebony turned and ran to me. She was crying and holding onto me tightly and saying unintelligible things. Then she started to look me over, poking at me. It hurt but I missed her attention. Maybe I should get injured more often.

Dante had Antonio tied up and only Giovanni remained alive.

"We can't get to Giovanni!" Dante yelled.

"The code is 5567!" Ebony yelled from beside me. She ripped pieces of her shirt off to tie around my arm then she held another piece to my stomach. I smiled at her.

"Both bullets went straight through you fucking ass! You had the nerve to accuse me of fucking betraying you! I know the guy code 'bros before hoes' and everything but it doesn't apply to the girl your gonna marry!" She smacked my wound and I grunted. "You're gonna live! I should've been the one to shoot you! I love your dumb ass!"

"I'm sorry Ebony." She finally smiled at me. "I'll forgive you this once." Then I lost consciousness like.

Ebony**

We all stood around in the waiting room waiting for any news about how Reko was doing. All of us.

I hadn't ate in I don't know how long. The police had all of us in custody for over 4 hours. Then police didn't want to release us because we weren't "cooperating."
Giovanni had called the police before he died, the snitch.

"Tell us again what happened."

"I was there celebrating with Emilee and Dante. I spent a night in one of the rooms and I was upstairs when everything went down."

"Where were Emilee and Dante?"

"Celebrating their honeymoon in their room."

The officers grunted. I knew I was a terrible liar but I was under Omerta and I was loyal. Later, one of Reko's people undercover came in and it was over. Deleted. Forgotten. It was about 6 am

But I was still hungry though but I wasn't moving until I knew Reko's condition. Reko refused to go to the closest hospital choosing instead to be driven 4 hours to the one in the circuit, by the time we made it he'd lost a lot of blood.

Now that the immediate threat was over I no longer needed to stay with Reko. Not that I'd been using him, I had honestly been fascinated with his lifestyle at first but once all the shit hit the fan I realized it was all too much. Once Reko was stable, I left. Drugs. Sex trade. Guns. Too fucking much. I didn't say anything to anyone. I just hugged everyone and dipped.

Reko*

I woke with her scent all over me. I looked around to find my room empty and I knew. I had seen the look on her face when she'd held me bleeding out. I passed out before I could beg her to stay. Yes beg. I, Darreko Carter, was going to beg Ebony to stay with me.

I knew it would've been asking for too much. She grew up around these things and had no desire to raise a family in it, I knew this and still brought her into a nightmare.

She didn't belong in my world.
I wished I could've been the good guy. Her knight in shining armor coming to save her. But I wasn't. I was a bastard.
A killer. And she was perfect. She was a struggling college student that had lived in the hood grasping from anything that could pull her away from the hell she lived in. Then I came into her life and fucked it up some more. I'd transferred her from her hell, to mine, desperate for all of her.

The short time she'd been with me she had shown me things that I'd never seen.

Latenight cartoon movies all night. The crazy chocolate junkfood on the weekends. Spaghetti at 2 am. Sitting in my car for hours talking about nothing. Ice cream at 8 am.

I would miss her.

The End
