Reporter's POVThe plan was called "Operation D Minus". It included sending young police officers undercover to high schools in Florida to learn about the drug economies in the schools. One school in particular, Park Vista Community High School, had a special student named Justin Laboy. An officer was in one of his classes. The name she used: Naomi
Justin's POV
Man, I walked into class one day, sat down in my regular seat, and all of a sudden, a new girl walked in. She was beautiful. I switched seats to be beside her after that. I learned her name: Naomi Rodriguez. She was a Puerto-Rican Dominican. She moved here from New York. She was mature in the body like woah. She seemed cool, so I said hi.Naomi's POV
There was a kid named Justin who tried to talk to me. He seemed sweet, so I let him, but still, these kids need to learn that there are consequences in life.
Justin's POV
I asked Naomi, "What the heck I gotta do to be with you?"
Reporter's POV
You asked her this in class?
Justin's POV
No, I texted her! So I was like, "What the heck I gotta do to be with you? lololol" And she replied with ":)" I screamed.
I texted her again "So, will you go to prom with me?" And she replied with "I'll think about it ;)" I almost screamed again.
Naomi's POV
I can't tell you my real name, but I can confirm I was asked to the prom.
Reporter's POV
Did you say yes eventually?
Naomi's POV
No. I didn't. Have you seen the prices on prom dresses? They're ridiculous! I just told Justin I couldn't go because it was way too expensive for my mom to afford. He was heartbroken.
Justin's POV
I was.Naomi's POV
Sorry Justin..Justin's POV
One day, out of the blue, Naomi asked me to get her weed! And I was like, "I don't do that! I get straight A's! I'm clean!" And she's like "Well too bad! Get me some!" And I was like "Alright, calm down!" So I called a cousin who called a cousin who called a cousin who called a friend of his who called a couple cousins to hook me up. It took me awhile to convince them. "Why should we do it?" "Only if you believe in love." That finally convinced them. I mean, everybody's got a cousin who can hook them up with something!
About a week later, I got the stuff. I texted Naomi "Hey. I got ur stuff ;)" and she replied with "Where'd you get it? From a student?" I replied with "That's my secret to keep." "See you tomorrow :)". I was so excited. Naomi might have finally accepted my love! But, she didn't.
Naomi's POV
Hey, I was doing my job. If I'm doing my job, and I'm doing it right, I am making life safer one school at a time, okay?
Justin's POV
Alright. Anyway, I came to school the next day with Naomi's stuff. "Slip it in my purse." So, I did. Luckily, I didn't get caught. Yet.
Naomi's POV
So, after school, I met up with Justin. "Hey, here's the money for the stuff." He wouldn't take it.
Justin's POV
Hey! I was being nice. "No. I'm not taking it. Count this as a favor." The next day, cops came to school and started arresting me and my guys! I couldn't believe it! I had to spend the night in jail, and had to go to court!
Naomi's POV
Justin, I'm really sorry. I was just doing my job.
Reporter's POV
So Justin, what was it like in jail?
Justin's POV
IT. WAS. AWFUL! Everybody in other cells were so smelly. I couldn't handle it. I went to court, and I knew that I couldn't fight, so I admitted to the third degree felony.
Reporter's POV
Well, that sounds awful.
Justin's POV
It was.
Naomi's POV
Listen Justin, I've seen the effects of drugs. I don't really want to talk about it, but I have.
Reporter's POV
With family members?
Naomi's POV
Yes. It was. I've seen the effects of cocaine, ecstasy, and many others. Too many others.
Reporter's POV
Well, Justin stayed in prison for awhile, and eventually got out years later. He still thinks about Naomi to this day.
Justin's POV
I do.
