He put the book down at his feet and sighed, deciding that he would never finish it before the deadline, not after the recent turn of events.

Instead of reading, he decided to message one of his friends on Facebook. After making small talk for only a minute, he logged out of the messenger. His mouse slipped when the cat brushed over his arm, however, and he accidentally clicked on an add for a different messaging site.

He moved the cat and slowly clicked through description, trying to decide whether the sure was worth logging into. After a short debate with himself, he decided that he would.

"Tyler. 17." Was all he wrote in the box, not wanting to give away too much information.

Instead of leaving the profile picture blank or using a picture of himself, Tyler used a picture of his cat that had been on his computer for a long time.

He was about to log out of the site for the time being when a notification popped up.

"Jenna. 17."

In the profile picture there was a drawing of a simple, yet elegant rose dangling over the edge of a vase, like it was just barely alive.

Tyler made a split second decision to message this girl with a simple "hello".

He could have never guessed the turn of events that would soon change his life forever.
