Not so quiet town.

"Thena, come on we have to go." I say rushing into her room. We are supposed to be meeting the principal of our new school in twenty minutes. There was no way we would actually make it on time at this point. I was already dreading the day. People would no doubt point and stare. Not only were we going to be the new kids, we were identical twins with platinum blonde hair. People always stared.

"I'm almost done." She says. She pulls her hair up into a messy ponytail and then grabs her bag. Her outfit was very similar to mine. We are both wearing dark skinny jeans with black heeled booties, a tank top and a black leather jackets. The only difference was that my tank top was purple and hers was pink. I grab my bags and we go downstairs.

"Are you girls heading out?" Mae asks. Mae was a friend of our parents from when they were kids. We had known her our entire lives and after everything happened, she took us in as if we were her own. "Yeah, we have to go to school." Thena says.

"And you are sure you don't want me to come down with you? I don't mind at all." She says concerned.

"It's okay Mae, we can handle it." I say trying to reassure her. She smiles at me and pulls me into a hug.

"Beautiful Thea. You are so strong. Your mother would be so very proud of you." She says kindly. Her words cause the ache in my heart to intensify. I smile and pull away.

"We better get going." I grab Thena's arm and pull her out the door behind me.

The school parking lot is already full by the time we arrive. Class had undoubtedly already started. I pull into one of the last remaining spots.

"Are you ready?" Thena asks looking out the windshield towards the school.

"No." I say taking in the building in front of me. We gather our bags and make our way towards the school. Once we get inside we follow the signs to the front office.

"May I help you ladies?" The woman behind the front desk asks when we walk in.

"We are supposed to be meeting the principal. We are a little late." Thena says politely

"Ah, you must be the Grey sisters. Take a seat, Principal Johnson will be with you in a moment." She says with a smile. We sit in two of the wooden chairs by the door. A few minutes later an older man with gray hair and a big belly walks into the room. He is wearing a gray suit and his glasses are perched on the edge of his nose.

"Good morning girls!" He booms cheerfully. "I'm Principal Johnson." He reaches his hand out to me.

"Thea." I say shaking his hand. "This is my sister Thena."

"Well, maybe I will be able to tell you two apart soon. Are you guys excited to be joining us here at Beacon Hills?"

"Sure." Thena says smiling.

"Well, based on your transcripts, the two of you will be great assets here. You have phenomenal grades, and attendance records, apart from here recently. I'm sorry about your parents, I know it must be very difficult."

"We are managing." I say forcing a smile.

"Well, if there is anything I can do, please let me know. We also have a great councilor here that would be more than willing to talk with you, if you need it."

"We will keep that in mind." Thena says.

"Well, let's get you two to your first class." We follow him out the door and down a couple of hallways, all the while he is giving us a history lesson on the school. Finally he stops outside a classroom door. I can feel Thena's nervousness as he reaches for the handle. I reach out and loop my arm through hers, giving her a reassuring smile before we follow him inside. The entire class turns to look at us as we walk in. I stare straight ahead and try my best to ignore them.
