The One Chapter 2

After Maxon and I parted ways, I headed finally for the Women’s Room. When I walked in Celeste was screaming at her maid for painting her nails the wrong shade of blue. Elise was in the corner getting her hair done with elegant blue ribbons braided into it. Kriss was sitting on a couch looking down. I was going to ask her what was wrong, but I got swept up by my maids.

They curled my fiery hair and re-applied my make-up. When they were done I thanked them honestly. It was ten minutes before the report started so everyone except Celeste filtered out of the Women’s Room.

I followed far behind Elise and Kriss. To distract myself from over thinking I counted the hallways before the doors that lead up to The Great Room, where the report would be held.

                Five hallways left…

                Four hallways left…

                Three hallways left…

In the second to last hallway before The Great Room, I was pulled into a strong chest. I almost screamed, before I was flipped around to see big brown eyes smirking at me. I slapped Maxon’s chest. He was laughing at giving me because scared me so bad that I thought I was having a heart attack.

“Just stop. You can’t do that to me I thought you were a rebel that got in!” I whispered harshly.

His face hardened when I mentioned rebels. He said, “I need to tell you something. I just need your opinion.”

“Okay?” I said unsure of what he was going to tell me.

“Since you’re in the elite now and it’s the final four, I am going to give everyone an extra maid. I was thinking that since things have settled down with the Marlee thing. So I thought that I could move Marlee from the kitchen to be your extra maid. Would you like that?” He asked politely.

I was speechless. A smile slowly crept onto my face. I started to tear up, but remembered that I couldn’t cry, because we would be on the report in just a few minutes.

I nodded fiercely. He smiled and said, “Okay I will set everything up tomorrow.”

I couldn’t help this feeling that crept into my stomach. It was a good feeling. Stronger than the butterflies I usually got when Maxon did the sweet things that I loved. I tugged his collar pulling his face to mine. I readjusted my hands to around his neck and he did the same except put his hands on my waist pulling me closer. Once he was satisfied with the closeness he kissed me. It was harder than usual. He nibbled on my lower lip and the kiss was automatically deepened.

The kiss was slow and passionate. It was romantic. It made me feel like I was the only girl in his life right now. The kiss was stopped abruptly, because of a gasp at the top of the hallway. I was the one that broke away to look towards the sound. Maxon looked peeved off that someone had interrupted us.

At the top of the hallway was a very shocked Celeste. I knew she was acting, because she started making the fake crying sounds.

She was dressed in a long green dress that was sparkling in the sunlight that filtered through the windows. Fake tears spewed down from her heavily eye-lined eyes. The tears washed away some of the crap that covered her face and made ditches on her make-up caked face.

Maxon sighed and said, “Celeste. My dear, why are you not in the Great Room?”

“I… I came… to look… f-for you!” She wept fakely. She ran to him and he awkwardly hugged her. “The… the report. It starts in t-two minutes.”

“Thank you dear. Go clean yourself up. Come through the back doors when you’re all better.” He said patting her shoulder.

“Okay.” She said. We all walked to the end of the hall and split ways. Celeste went towards the Women’s Room and Maxon walked with me to The Great Room. Maxon slipped my hand in his arm and we walked slowly to the Great Room. I looked back to find Celeste scowling at me like she could just kill me by looking at me. I quickly turned back around.

Maxon walked me to my seat. Kriss ad Elise stared at me. I started to blush and shyly smiled them.

Maxon took his usual seat next to King Clarkson. Interview seats were set up but one looked like what my mother would call a love seat.

Sylvia took his seat in the single black leather chair and introduced the King. The King thanked him and then went to his usual podium to announce the national news.

After he was done with announcements, he handed the attention back to Sylvia.

“Good evening ladies and gentlemen!” Sylvia greeted. “Tonight we will have yet another special treat! The Elite will be interviewed with Prince Maxon! And as an extra special treat we will be answering questions you all have submitted! Shall we start, Maxon?” He questioned the prince, gesturing him to sit at the love seat.

“I think we shall,” Maxon said as he made his way to the love seat.
