Hi guys, so, Im Taking part in a potterhead competition set up by HermioneDragneelNewt the first ask is to make a short story about my Hogwarts experience. Only the beginning though (Hogwarts express, sorting, ect)
So here it is! Hope you like it.

I'm sitting in a small cart on the magnificent Hogwarts express. It was my first year here and my mother had told me all about the place. She was, apparrantly, a lost relative of Godric Gryffindor!

I had freaked when she had told me that news. Godric was a founder of the school.

I was currently nibbling on a pumpkin pastie, listening to my new friends, Elliot Scamanda and Hydra Malfoy bickering about quidditch.

We had all dressed into our robes and the train was slowing down, students rushing off and onto the Hogsmead platform. I slip out of the compartment, Elliot and Hydra at my heels as I wait in the never ending line to get out.

Once we had departed the scarlet train, we followed the other first years to a gigantic man calling out in a slightly gentle voice.

'Firs' years over 'ear!' He repeats, beckoning all the small kids to him.

I bound over to him, smiling as he grins at me. After he had gathered everyone, we followed him as he lead us down to a lake, small boats lining the shores.

'Wow,' I breathe, climbing into a boat behind a boy with ginger hair and another with scraggy black hair and glasses, emerald eyes gleaminhbin the moonlight.

Hydra follows in after me, leaving Elliot to pout and run off to find another boat.

Once all students were seated, the small boats surged forward, nearly knocking me off in the sudden movement. The waves lapped gently into the wood holding us from the vast lake. Moonlight shimmered on the water, lighting the undisturbed night.

Hydra taps on my shoulder, pointing to her brother who is bending over the side, appearing to be sick. We laugh, attracting the boys attention.

Hydra gasps suddenly, causing me to look forward where a large castle stands tall, looking like a mere shadow in the eerie night.
The giant called for us to duck and I did, unlike Hydra who copped a mouthful of seaweed, glaring as I clutched my stomach in laughter.

She drags a finger across her throat and I shut up immediately, turning back to the front. Soon after, we hit shore and I scramble off the rocking boat after the Weasley boy.

I know he's a Weasley because all pureblood families know each other. Yes, I'm a pureblood, but my father had left us when I was born. An act of betrayal in which I swore vengeance, though it doesn't help when I don't even know his name.

I tao him on the shoulder and he turns around, eyebrows furrowed in confusion. I point to the giant.

'Do you know who he is? I can't remember.' I whisper.

'Yeah, Harry told me about him. His names Hagrid.' The boy whispers back.

'Why are we whispering?' I ask him a little louder, but he just shrugs before turn in his back on me. I roll my eyes as Hydra jogs to my side, Elliot close behind her.

Hagrid hands us over to another, strict looking woman. She looks like a person you wouldn't mess with, and I take and instant liking toward this teacher.

'As some of you may already know, my name is Professor McGonagall. In a moment, you shall be sorted into your house, your home for your time here at Hogwarts. If you do well, you win points for your house, break rules, you lose points. Am I clear?' She explains crisply.

She leaves and we all talk for a bit before she returns, he tight bun seemingly pulled tighter, her emerald robes shining. We all follow her into the Great Hall and I grin, excited to sit at one of these tables. I don't care which house I'm out in, because I know I'll make an excellent witch.

There is an old hat sitting in the middle of the stage, singing. But u tune out, staring curiously at the teachers. The one that interests me most is one with black, greasy hair, a crooked nose and is wearing black robes. Another is plump, her greying hair pulled into two loose buns, next to her, is sitting a tiny man, propped up on cushions so he can even reach his cuttelery.

My searching stops when McGonagall starts reading out names. Mine is at the start.

'Jenna Andrews!' She calls, peering over her glasses.

I stride to the front, sitting on the stool and tugging the hat over my head.

Hmmm I can see that your related to Godric, perhaps closer than you think... I know where to put you... GRYFFINDOR!!!'

I stand, a large grin plastered on my face as I bounce down to the table clapping crazily, proudness consuming me into a dreamy state.

I'm sitting in the kitchen, doing homework revision when my mother comes in, proud glittering in her eyes as she grips a letter so tightly that its crinkling majorly and I fear that I won't be able to read it. It has the Hogwarts emblem on it, and that's enough to make me jump from my seat and snatc the envelope from her hand, proudness blooming within my heart.

I stare around the Great Hall, smiling as I notice the enchanted ceiling, made to look Luke the sky outside. Candles hang by imaginary strings, chatter rising in the hall as the sorting finishes.

The train ride had been one to remember, certainly. I had made my first few friends on it, Hydra and Elliot. Sadly, though, Hydra was put into Slytherin and Elliot into Ravenclaw.

I already knew that I was going to be enemies with Draco and his two goons, Crabbe and Goyle when I heard Harry tell Ron about his venture to Madam Malkin's.

I grab some pumpkin juice and turn, watching a boy called Seamus Finnigan perform a funny spell.

I think this year is going to be a good one.

Okay, so yeah, that's it! Just to let you guys know, Elliot Scamanda is actually on of my characters in my new fan fiction, A Heart of Snow. Based on Draco's twin. I highly regret calling her Gemini instead of Hydra now... Hydra seems so awesome!

Anyway... Bye bye
