Clarke's POV
Breathe Clarke. It's going to be okay.
The only light I can see comes from too small cracks. I'm lead to a place that I don't know, and my panic is apparent through my restless heart rate and eratic breathing. It's totally irrational, but so is the situation.
"Bellamy, please just tell me where your taking me. I'm starting to freak out", I moan.
"That's not how a suprise works princess. You only get to find out when we get there", he replies happily.
"Well how far away are we? Not being able to see is giving me the creeps?".
"Not too far. Another minute and we should be there", he tells me. I stub my foot on a rock and come close to falling flat on my ass, but Bellamy's steady hands catch me. Even though his hands are over my eyes, I shoot him an evil look.
"That was on me. Sorry", he repsonds. We walk for another minute, before he turns me at a right angle and removes his hands.
"Ok. Open", he instructs.
My eyes open slowly, and I see Arkadia in all it's glory, glittering in the sunset. I should be wowed, but I'm just dissapointed that I wasted 20 minutes to come up to the ridgeline.
"Oh look, it's the place we've lived for the past few years. Thank you for showing such a new and interesting thing. I'm so lucky to be your wife", I say blandly. His face is less than impressed.
"Turn around".
I turn on my heel to face the forest, but my view is blocked by a small log cabin. The timber is still visible and there is a well constructed porch jutting out the front. A metal door that looks a little out of place, and a large window complete the small building. I can't help but remember the pictures of houses like this one back before the bombs.
"What is this?" I turn to Bellamy and ask with a laugh.
"You've been asking about where I've been spending my nights. So here it is", he answers.
"You've been sleeping in this house? What's wrong with our bed?" I say, turning to his face.
"No, stupid. I know it's been a little crowded in our place for the past couple months, what with the kids and my mum and Lincoln and O. I also remember a certain someone saying that all they wanted to do was live in the forest away from everything. So I built this place. It's our new home", he explains.
I turn away from him and back to the small structure, taking a moment to appreciate that it's really mine. And that Bellamy took a small and nonchalant thought and turned it into something beautiful.
"You really are too good for me, Blake", I sigh.
"So you like it?".
"I love it".
"Well just wait until you see inside", he exclaims. He reaches for his pocket and pulls out a small key. After some fiddling, the door falls inwards and Bellamy pulls me inside. In the first room, there is a simple layout. By the door there is a table, and then a few steps down into the sitting room. There are a couple sofas and chairs, all surrounding a fire pit under a peaked roof to allow the smoke to leave. On the opposing side of the room, there is a small corridor. After pointing out how hard it was to put the wooden floor down- and the splinters he got doing so- Bellamy shows me the bedrooms. On one side of the hallway are the two childrens rooms connected by a shared bathroom. Then on the other side of the hall is the master bedroom, with an ensuite.
"This is amazing", I utter. But something is missing. "Hey babe, Where are we supposed to cook food?"
"Over the fire. But I do have a gas fire if it doesn't work out", he tells me. It's still all too much to take in, and I flop down onto the nearest sofa.
"How am I ever going to thank you for this? How an I ever gunna top this?", I murmur.
"You don't have to. The look on your face right now is enough", he says. I stand up and spin, taking in my surroundings once more.
"The kids are going to love it", I say.
"Do you wanna hear something even better?", he tempts.
"What?"
"The kids are with my mum, so tonight we have this place all to ourselves", he whispers and flashes his famous smirk.Roan's POV
I wake up to and feel Raven snoring into my chest. No matter how much I wriggle and writhe, she won't wake up, so I conclude that I'm stuck until she does. For the brief moment I have, I study her face in the moonlight that shines through the blinds. I watch as her nose wrinkles every once in a while, and how her hair falls lightly on her back. I look closer at her perfect skin and look over her eyes, which are now open.
"Morning", she groans, pulling up and away from my body.
"I think you'll find that it's still the middle of the night", I tell her. She just shrugs her shoulders and pulls her brace over her leg.
"Didn't you hear? Reyes' are nocturnal. Other people's nightfall is our morning", she jokes.
"And hey. I think you'll find that that's morning your majesty", I counter.
Raven turns and raises an eyebrow at me, before lobbing my shirt at my head.
"Not in this room your not. Now get up, I need to go check the Rover before our trip to Polis tomorrow". After weak resistance and some demanding stares, I crawl out bed and follow her to the hangar.
"The things I do for love".
