"Ahem! One, two, three?" A voice over the intercom says.
"He-hello, hello? AH, yes," he says, "working this time I see." He chuckles sarcastically. Saute and I exchange strange looks.
"Welcome, all—when I say all, I mean the Charkouli Kingdom population. Any who, I wanted to address every single one of the students in Charkouli High School that passed the last test, alright." The Mayor grunts.
"Me, please be me, please." Saute mutters under his breath, "Please.."
"Oh! Yes! I've been waiting for this!" I jump up and down to the excitement now filling the Square.
"Shh!" My brother motions for me to stop talking.
I roll my eyes and I listen to the Mayor's little laugh.
"Alright, first, we have Akummi Noria, Shaiun Wessttl, skitt Miires, Nui Mayoi, Nana Mayoi," Mayor takes a deep breath and keeps listing enough names to fill the whole city up with, taking little breathes every few words. As I was waiting for, my name pops up in the middle of the list, and I screech into my brother's ear, reassuring myself that Arthur won't be able to hear his name after that.
"And last but not least, Saute.. Saute A-Acute?" The Mayor makes a cruel giggle and so does the rest of the people listening. Everyone except me and Saute himself.
"ACUUT!" he yells and starts off to the park. I run after him, all I hear are little laughs and chuckles and All i see is pointing and silly faces. He suddenly stops when we are far enough from the crowd. Saute sits down on a stone bench, and I do the same.
"Are you okay? T-that must have been.. rough. I'm sorry."
"No, no. It's fine. It's not like I'm important anyways." I stop when I hear the whole sentence.
"Not important? NOT IMPORTANT..!" I holler.
"You ARE important! At least to me!" A teardrop drips down my face. "You- I mean.." Saute looks up with a sorrow face and smiles.
"Thank you.. That- that means so much to hear that. Especially because I haven't heard that sentence screamed at my face for 3 years.."
"What do you mean?" I asked, concerned.
"My mom passed away 3 years ago and she was the last person to say that to me.."
"What about your dad?"
"He left my family before I was born,"
"OH MY SAKIY! I'm so sorry, I didn't know!!"
"It's fine." I draw closer to him, and he continues.
"I-I am so sorry.."
"For what?"
"I have been continuously rambling for the past minute without letting you talk!"
"I'm talking right now." I joke. He laughs.
"Look! The smile I haven't seen for a minute, it's great!" I softly punch his arm.
"Eheh, thanks again. It.. means a lot to me." We both hug.
"It's getting late, we should.. Actually, let us grab ice cream? I'm sick of the meeting."
"I'm down!"
