The Doll Collectors

"You're gorgeous. You know that right?"

Tony laughed awkwardly at the blush that painted his date's cheeks. All around them the hustle and bustle of the small coffee shop filtered into their ears.

Abby glanced out the window before looking at the young man before her. "Thank you, Tony", she finally managed to say.

Tony gave another laugh followed by Abby who joined in. "Yeah", he drawled glancing down at his coffee cup toying with the rim of it, "Sorry about that. I know it was abrupt. Left field even, but I had to put it out there."

Abby ducked her head, "No. No. It's fine. I agree, a bit left field but not unwelcomed", she glanced up at him briefly, "Thank you."

Tony looked back up at Abby with a grin, "Well, since I'm already embarrassing myself, I might as well continue."

Abby looked up curiously with a small giggle.

"Do you know what made me attracted to you?"

Abby gave a shy smile and a small shake of her head.

Tony leaned forward, "Honestly, it was your eyes."

Abby's eyebrows shot up as Tony continued, "They are captivating. I see now why they say the eyes are the windows to one's soul."

Abby held his gaze a moment longer before lowering her head, taking a sip of her drink. "And what do you see, when you look at them?"

"Secrets"

Abby looked back up at Tony who sat back with a soft smile, "I see secrets that I'd love to be part of."

There was a small silence before, "Are you certain?"

A small worried frown made its way to Abby's face as she continued. "The last boyfriend I had....he ran from me after he found out my secrets. I just..." she looked at the table, finding a pattern in it to absently trace, "...don't want you to run away from me."

A soft touch on her hand made Abby look up.

"I don't scare easily and I'm not your last boyfriend. Besides he was probably a fool for giving up so easily."

Abby stared at him a few moments reading the truth in Tony's eyes. A relieved sigh fell from her lips as she squeezed Tony's hand in silent thanks. She hadn't even realized she had been holding her breath. A brilliant smile lit up Tony's face.

There was a comfortable silence that fell on them before something caught Abby's eye. She looked around before looking past Tony's shoulder to see a young man several tables away facing them.
