When We Parted Ways

Chapter 1: Stepping Into College

Klarisse's POV

5:30 AM in the morning.

*alarm clock rings, then I woke up*

Nag-unat-unat ako at---

"HALAAAAAAA!!!" I shouted. "LATE NA'KOOOOOO!!!" I shouted again.

Suddenly I rushed to get my bath towel and nagmadali na akong maligo.
After kong maligo, I rushed to my walk-in closet and I immediately seek for my uniform. "Mamaaaaaaaa!!"

"Oh ano 'yun anak?" Asked my mum.

"Nasaan na po 'yung uniform ko, I'm late for school na." I answered.

"Ah, I hung it beside your make-up table, so you can get your hair and touch ups done right after you wear your clothes."

"Wow! Thanks Ma! You're the best!"

"Syempre, hahayaan ko ba namang magmukha kang gusgusin on the first day of your collegiate journey."

"Haha! Salamat Ma! I love you!" Sabay niyakap ko siya. "Oh, sige na anak, bilisan mo at magbihis ka na Dadating na ang school bus mo."

And yep, sinuot ko na ang aking uniform and nagmake-up, yung light lang. After that, I can't decide kung anong gagawin ko sa buhok ko. Messy bun? High ponytail? Or lugay ko nalang? Nah, I'll go with the Messy bun. "Klarisse! Andiyan na ang school bus." Sigaw ni Mama from downstairs. "Opo eto na po. Pababa na ako. I'll just get my bag."

I came downstairs and my Mom was waiting for me at the gate. "Klare! Bilisan mo." She yelled.

And then eto na, I was already at the front door of the bus. "Oh, anak galingan mo ha, goodluck on your fist day." --- "Ma, first day palang namin, wala pa kami masyadong gagawin."

"Sus, pagpapa-kilala palang eh kabadong-kabado ka na." --- "Eh nakakahiya kaya."

"Oh siya, sige na nag-aantay na yung driver." --- "Sige po, bye ma! I love you" I hugged her and kissed her on her cheeks.

I stepped into the bus and saw many sudents, and they're staring at me. Para bang nakakita sila ng multo, and wala nang vacant seat. Oh wait, meron pa pala, beside that sweet-looking lady. "Pwede pong tumabi sa'yo?" I asked. "Oh, sure! No problem." She replied and she smiled at me. "New girl eh? She asked. "Ah, yes. Ganito ba talaga sila lagi kapag may bagong pasok na estudyante sa bus? Yung tipong parang nakakita sila ng multo." I said. "Hindi." --- "Eh bakit ganun sila makatingin sa'kin kanina?" I asked, then nilapit niya yung mukha niya sa tenga ko.

"Yung zipper kasi ng palda mo beh, naka-unzip." She whispered.

"HAAAAAAH!!" I shouted, then once again nasa akin nanaman ang atensiyon. "Ay! Sorry po, sorry po."
Sabi ko sakanila. Hayyst, hindi pa ako nakakarating sa campus kahihiyan na agad ang nangyari. 'Di bale, makakabawi rin ako. First impression lang 'yan. Wait 'til you all see my school performance. I'll promise to do my best everytime.

A few minutes later...

"Here we are. You may now unboard the bus. Goodluck! Study hard." Sabi ng bus driver. Ang bait naman ni kuya.

I stepped out of the bus and took a deep breath as I saw the university buildings.

"Today's the day I take another step in my life, I promise to take care of it and do the best out of it. Aberdale University, here I come!" I said to myself motivatedly sabay binangga bangga ako ng iba pang papasok na students. "Ano ba naman 'to. Panira ng moment, 'di marunong mag-excuse, makapasok na nga." Then 'yun na nga pumasok sa ako sa gate, sobrang laki at lawak ng University! 'Di na ako makapag-hintay na simulan ang aking bagong misyon as a College student.

"Teka, ano nga ulit yung room ko?" I asked myself, tapos may biglang sumagot mula sa gilid ko. "Hi miss, ano bang room number mo?" Tanong ni guy na stranger. "Ah, nakalagay kasi sa sched ko is room #207."

"Ah! Physics class. Parehas pala tayo ng pupuntahan. Sabay na tayo. By the way, my name is Coby Perez, and you are?" He asked, then he handed his hands for a hand shake.

"Klarisse Buenaventura." I replied, and nakipag-hand shake. "Wow, a nice looking girl, with a nice name." He said. "Pfft. Don't me." I said. *he laughed* "Feeling ko ang chill mo kausap." He uttered. "Kapag nasa mood. Hay nako! Tara na nga, late na tayo." I said kasi gusto ko na i-cut 'yung convo, kaya 'yun we left na.

As I walked through the door, i felt nervousness is running all over my body. Naghanap ako ng upuan, luckily there's still plenty available seats. I sat right next to a girl para hindi masyadong awkward. "Hi!" Biglang sabi nung katabi kong babae. "Uh, hello!" I replied. "So your the new girl, what's your name?" She asked. "Klarisse." I answered. "Nice name. Mine's Chloe." She said then biglang tumahimik ang lahat kasi parating na yung Professor namin. *the Professor came in*.

*we stood up*

"Good Morning Professor." We said.

"Good Morning class, you may now sit down." *we sat down*. "So today we have plenty of new students, so would you all mind introducing yourself here at front one by one, but first I'll introduce myself, my name is Judy Cruz, but just call me Professor Judy, so kayo naman." She continued. "Eto 'yung ayoko eh." I murmured to myself. So yah, nagpakilala na sila isa isa. And so my turn comes...

"Uhh, h-hi everyone! M-my name's Klarisse. Klarisse Buenaventura, but you can just call me Klare." I could feel my hands are shaky. "Okay Miss Buenaventura, you may now take your seat. So Miss Buenaventura is one of our new students. She was the Class Valedictorian last school year from her past school, so I hope you'd be nice to her, be friendly, comfort her since she's new here. By the way Miss Buenaventura, Chloe *sabay tingin kay Chloe*  will take you to a short tour here in our University after lunch. I hope you enjoy your journey here, and goodluck to all of you." She explained. "Thanks Professor Judy." I replied with a smile.

So 'yun, nag-explain lang si Ma'am ng konting rules about sa subject niya. Mukha namang mabait si Ma'am parang hindi masyadong strikto. Suddenly the bell rings.

"Oh it's already done. It was nice meeting you all. See you tomorrow!" Said Professor Judy.

"Goodbye and thank you Professor Judy." We said. "Goodbye kids." She replied.

Hala, ginawa kaming bata. So tapos na ang first subject ko, next is Biology class. Later on, biglang lumapit sa'kin si Coby. "So, ano next subject mo?" He asked. "Biology, may I ask saan banda yung room nun?" I asked. "Malapit lang dito, deretsuhin mo lang, then makikita mo yung room #304." He answered. "Okay thanks." I said.
