(Ve'Quell)

"I am so sorry!" I said while I bent down to pick her books up.

"It's ok, I think we ran into each other. Thank you." She grabved her books and quickly turned away.

"Wait a minute, I'm Ve'Quell, what's your name?" I lightly pulled her arm so she could face me.

"Who doesn't know who you are? Kalifa." She smiled. Kalifa is a pretty darkskin chick. She was atleast 5'4 , thick and her eyes were a dark hazel, different but It was her long black natural hair that caught my attention.

"Nice to meet you. What class you heading too?" I asked simply to keep our conversation going.

"Humanities, Mr.Leon." She said looking at her schedule.

"Me too." I smiled down at her. "Want to walk with me?"

"We have like another 20 minutes left and I want to grab a bagel and a poptart from the cafeteria."

"We can stop there first." We walked to the cafeteria and I noticed she had her head down looking at the ground, very seldomly did she look up. I saw people staring at us oddly but I didn't care. Kalifa seemed like a nice person and I wanted to get to know her.

After she grabbed a bagel and a strawberry poptart I grabbed a fruit cup and a poptart we headed to our first period. Of course we were in the room alone, so we decided to pick our seat in the far back corner of the room.

(Kalifa)

I can't believe that the guy I've had a crush on for four years has finally noticed me. We were now sitting in our first period class, talking, yes actually talking. He seems like the complete opposite of what i thought. I always thought that he was cocky, concieted and grand, silly me.

"So what made you decide to talk to me? I mean I thought after you apologized you would just walk away." I blurted out, being honest.

"Well, they say a good opportunity nevers comes twice." He smiled at me. Just then everyone started walking in and class started.

In class we didn't do anything just sat and talked to each other. I learned that Ve'Quell and I had the exact same classes, what a coincidence. He didn't socialize with his friends, we walked to each class early and sat next to each other.

After our fourth period it was lunch time and that's when things got out of hand. We sat at the same lunch table and all of his friends kept coming over asking him questions.

"Why you over here with this weirdo?" a girl asked.

"Why does it matter? Go somewhere and mind your business." He snapped at her and she left after rolling her eyes at us. Some of his guy friends came and sat with us giving me wierd looks.

"So what's up with yall?" One of them asked.

"Nothing man, chill." Ve'Quell answered quickly. We sat and ate our food until it was time for the last two classes. Of course there wasnt much work done so we sat and talked more, until school was over.

"I really enjoyed you today Kalifa." He said while walking me to my locker.

"Same here." I smiled at him.

"Can I get your number? Maybe we can talk later?" He asked anxiously. I put my number in his phone and we said our goodbyes.

"Wow, what a day." I thought to myself as I headed to my bus.
