The year was coming to an end and Christmas was right around the corner. Christmas, the time when people come together, talk, laugh and just enjoy eachother's company. It was happy and full of love!
But you were alone. In your apartment.
Your parents and friends were on the other side of the world, with no chance to visit you this Christmas. You didn't have the money to travel either. You knew you could call and skype them, but this wasn't the same. You had got some cute postcards from your friends, but it didn't beat actually seeing them.
But the person you were most sad about was Mark, your boyfriend. A few days ago he had suddenly stopped contacting you. He didn't call nor answered your calls. He didn't reply to your messages nor messaged you.
You decided to text Jack to ask if he knew something about Mark because you were now really concerned about him. You got up from the couch and grabbed your phone from the kitchen table.
Y/n: Hey Jack
Jack: Oh, heyy! How's it going?
Y/n: Good, hey, have you heard anything about Mark?
Jack: Mark? Is something wrong?
Y/n: No, I just haven't heard of him in a long time.
Jack: Huh, that's weird. I talk to him evey day.
Y/n: Do you know if he has any projects he's taking part in or something?
Jack: I haven't heard of any. He hasn't told me that anything's wrong between you two either. I can ask him about it though. If you want me to of course :D
Y/n: I'd be thankful. I'm really worried. He doesn't answer me at all when I text or call him.
Jack: Okay, will do, dont worry! I have to start recording now, Merry Christmas y/n! I'll let you know if I have some info.
Y/n: Thank you Jack and Merry Christmas to you too.You sighed and threw your phone on the couch. Well this wasn't much help. You wiped your eyes after feeling tears creeping up. Why wasn't Mark contacting you although everything was okay? You groaned. This was the worst Christmas ever.
Holding your tears back, you went to get a glass of water. Maybe after Jack talks to Mark, you finally know what's going on. You were really relying on Jack on this one.
You filled the glass and took a few sips before pouring the rest away. As you were putting the glass back in the cupboard you heard your doorbell ringing. "Who's that?" you mumbled in a surprised voice. You rushed to the corridor, a smile forming on your face. Maybe it was one of your friends giving you a surprise visit or maybe it's...
You pulled the door open, hoping it was someone close.
"You're y/n l/n right? Here's your pizza!"
Right. You had ordered pizza before. Amazing.
"Yeah...thanks. I'll go, get my wallet."
You quickly ran to your bedroom and grabbed your wallet from the drawer. On the way back you saw a new message on your phone. You got really hopeful and just wanted to quickly pay the pizzaboy.
With the hot pizza in your hands you rushed back to your phone. You carelessly put the pizza on the table and grabbed you phone.
Merry Christmas! Have a calm and snowy one!
- your friend ChloeOh. You fell back on the couch, disappointed. Well, yeah you were happy to receive a message from your friend, but it wasn't the one you were hoping to receive a message from. You sent her a nice thanking message and eyed the pizza. You couldn't eat it. You felt a little sick and so you decided to call it a night.

Altough you had really hoped that a long hot shower would calm you, it didn't. You looked yourself in the mirror and sighed at your tired face. You put on your pyjamas, grabbed your towel and stepped out of the bathroom. Walking to your bedroom you heard your phone buzzing. You went to grab your phone and then headed to the bedroom.
Jack: Hey, I talked to Mark.
A shiver went down your spine. What did he say?
Y/n: Well?
Jack: He seemed to be very busy, so he only said that he can't talk to you. I really don't know what's going on. He doesn't have any projects, that's for sure. I tried to ask him more, but he just cut me off.You felt tears in your eyes again. He always finds time to talk to you and now he said he can't talk to you. What was wrong? Did you do something?
Jack: I'll figure something out, okay? Stay calm!
Y/n: Thanks Jack. It's late over here and I'm tired. Goodnight!
Jack: Sweet dreams! Sleep tight and try not to stress that much, I'm sure he has an explanation. You put your phone on the nightstand by your bed and went on the balcony to hang the towel to dry. You looked over the city and felt a slightly cold breeze going through your hair. It was dark outside, but the city was in full lights and the stars were shining brightly. You closed your eyes and breathed in deeply. The fresh air calmed you a small bit, but you decided to head back inside before catching a cold.
You turned off all the lights in the apartment and got in bed. You pulled the blanket on and closed your eyes. You weren't really sleepy but you tried.

You were already dozing off when your doorbell could be heard again.
"What the hell? Who comes at this hour??" you groaned. You sleepily kicked the blanket off and didn't even bother to change clothes because you wanted the visitor to know that it was way too late. Stumbling across the apartment, the doorbell rang again.
"Yeah! Coming!" you yelled out and clicked on the corridor light, blinding yourself for a couple of seconds. Before you could open the door, the visitor rang the doorbell AGAIN.
"I'm right here! Don't be..."
You opened the door and felt tears building up. It was Mark, smiling and standing in front of you with a little Christmas bow in his hair, arms spreaded and a bunch of luggages next to him.
"MARK!!!" you screamed and jumped into his arms not caring how many people in the complex you had just waken up. He hugged you tightly and spun you around. You were sobbing into his shoulders by now.
"Hey, don't cry! Look here, I got you something," Mark laughed. You let go of Mark and looket at him. He gently wiped your tears away and grabbed a little giftbox. He reached to his hair and took off the bow to put it on the giftbox.
"Here's your gift. Sorry if it's not the best, I admit I forgot the gift so I bought something from the local store. From your surprise I can see that Jack held the secret well," Mark said and gave you the small box, smiling softly.
You took the box and opened it right then and there. In the box there was a red picture frame. Mark took one of his bags and pulled out a photo of you and him. It was a selfie Mark had taken when you two first met.
"I thought this would fit nicely," he said and put the foto in the picture frame. You smiled through the tears and put the bow back into his red hair.
"You're the best gift ever," you whispered. Mark chuckled and pulled you in a hug once more. He looked at you and gently kissed your forehead.
"Merry Christmas y/n!"
