Chapter 4

Finally the words were legible.

"Hey is this thing on?"
There was a voice speaking the same words of the chocolate.
"Ok. Hey minna. I don't have a lot of time but there is something really important you should know. Every year, in December, something weird happens. I am unable to use my magic because of this. But it ends by New Years. I usually get very sick. I only have one clue that could cause it but I hope I'm wrong. And even if I were right there is nothing that any of you could do. Just stay safe and don't use your magic."

After that, the chocolate melted and fell. Erza caught it with her cake.

"Wonderful" she whispered, pulled out a fork, and started to eat.

"Soooooo. What are we going to do?" Someone asked.

"I say we smash it!" Natsu offered.

"Natsu, we don't even know what it is"

"Oh yeah, hey lu-" he caught himself.

Everyone looked down.

"If Lucy says there is nothing we can do, then there is nothing we can do" said Gramps, breaking the solemn silence.

"But gramps, we have to do something!" Natsu argued.

"Flame head is right, we're FairyTail. We always overcome our obstacles" said Gray.

"What did you call me, Elsa?"

"Quit it Pyro, i agreed with you there, do stop getting in my face"

"Hmph" Natsu pouted.

"Do you think Lucy-San actually knows what causes this, er, phenomenon?" Asked Wendy.

"She did say she had a theory" said Romeo.

"She has had plenty of time to figure it out" said Erza.

"1224 years." Whispered Levy. "Do you even think we'll find her?"

"She knows we're here. How else would Erza have gotten the cake?" Said Jellal.
Erza looked up with her fork almost to her mouth with a piece of cake on it.

"But she also said she wasn't quite ready to meet up with us yet." Said Biska.

"Geez, how long is Luce going to make us wait?" Natsu complained.

"Only she knows Natsu, only she knows." Said gramps.

Time skip

It was now Monday. December 1st. When the group walked in, the dragon slayers smelled something. Something in the air was different. They sat down and waited for the teacher to call role.
Blablablablabla...
"Conbolt, Masa"
"Hai"
"Dragneel, Kasai"
"Hai"
"Dreyer, Raiden"
"Hai"
Blablablah...
"Fernandez, Akihiko"
"Hai"
"Fullbuster, Kori"
"Hai"
Blablablah...
"Heart, Hoshi"
Silence...
"Miss Hoshi?"
Silence....
"Absent"

On their way to another class, they overheard a conversation.
"She wasn't here?"
"No"
"I wonder if she's sick"
"You mean like last year?"
"Yeah, she missed most of December"

The dragon slayers gasped.
The others turned to them.
"What?"
"Hoshi is out because she's sick." Said Wendy.
"So, a lot of people get sick this time of year." Said Gray.
"No, we overheard that she got sick last December as well" said Gajeel
"She missed out most of the month." Said Laxus
The others gasped with realization.
"Let's go!"said Natsu.
Erza caught his collar.
"We can't"
"But Erza, she's Luce, and she's sick! We have to go!"
"No we have school. We also have to report this to master."
"But-"
"No buts! Just wait. No sneaking away either."
"Yes ma'am."
Natsu looked out a window.
