Demi's POV
Jackson started treatment a week later. I was sat in the hospital waiting room waiting.
Nick had offered to sit with me but I declined it.
I thought things were finally going to be fine but then Jackson has a deadly illness.
I cried for ages when I found out but then realised that Jackson needed me to be strong for him.He came out smiling weakly with antibiotics flowing into him by his hand.
"Mummy, can you read me a story?" Jackson whispered when we were hugging.
"Of course." I said.
The hospital kept lots of story books in the waiting room and I grabbed a couple and sat on my chair with Jackson on my lap.
"Once upon a time..."***
"How is he?" Nick said on the phone.
"He's asleep. Only half an hour left and we can come home." I said tiredly.
We had been moved to a hospital room where Jackson had taken the bed and had been asleep for four hours.
"How are the babies?" Nick asked.
"In the way." I said.
Nick laughed, "They'll be here soon, Hazel and Carly miss you. Hazel's been sat in front of the telly with icecream all day and Carly has been on the trampoline trying to do all sorts of weird flips."
"What time is it?" I asked.
"Nine o'clock." Nick said.
"Oh. Is everyone asleep then?" I asked.
"Everyone except Winter who is hogging the TV and watching Eastenders." Nick said.
I smiled.
"Miss Lovato?" A nurse said from the door.
"I'll call you back." I hung up.
"Yes."
"You and Jackson can come home now but you need to come back." She said.
I rolled my eyes.
"My Dad had leukemia, I know how it works." I said.
She unattached Jackson and I picked him up.
He fell asleep on my shoulder and I walked to the car.***
More weeks passed and Jackson lost his hair, and the sickness became worse.
Every night they told me it would be his last but he pulled through and was smiling at me the next morning.
"How are you, baby?" I said to Jackson.
"It hurts, Mummy." Jackson sniffed.
He buried his face inside my jacket.
"It know, baby." I said hugging him.
He put his hand on my stomach to feel the babies.
"Will they be here soon?" He said tiredly.
"In a month yes, why?" I replied.
"I want to meet them before I give up, it hurts Momma." He said.
"Jackson." I gasped. "Are you going through all of this pain just so you can meet the babies?"
He nodded wincing.
"I'm sure they'd understand, please don't put yourself in all of this pain." A tear slipped out.
"I want to meet them." He said desperately.
"I know you do but if your in pain." I cried.
"I'm going to go through it, Momma I want to meet my new brothers and sister." Jackson said firmly.
"Okay." I wiped my eyes and brought him in for another hug.
We were like that for a minute before yet another nurse interupted.***
Weeks passed and Jackson wasn't getting any better. They tried several different medications but none of them were working.
I was rarely at home and when I was I was sleeping.
I was amazed how Nick was doing.
He took everyone to school at eight, came home, tidied the house, washed and ironed clothes, wrote music and then do some gardening. Then he would collect everyone from school, make them a snack, sort their school bags out, sort their uniform out, make dinner, put them to bed. Then he would eat, shower and then go to sleep himself.
Normally he would have me to help him.
And I felt so bad that Nick was having to do this and they weren't his kids.***
I was at the hospital when I felt awful pains in my stomach.
I knew they were labour pains.
Jackson was fast asleep.
I hit the nurse button on the wall and a nurse came in.
"Please sit with him, I think my babies are coming." I said.
She panicked and helped me stand up.
She brought me to reception and they took me to a separate hospital room.
I shouted at the nurse. "If ANY THING happens to Jackson you tell me immediately! Got that?!" She nodded and went to sit with Jackson.
They called Nick and my Mum and he was here within half an hour.
"It's finally coming, Demi!" Nick said excitedly.
"Yeah the amazing pain." I said sarcasticly.
He laughed.
"Well that and our babies." Nick said.I was finally ready for the birth and several nurses came in.
I groaned and lay there.
"You can do this." Nick said.
It was all a blur because the pain was to much.
And it went dark.
Then I lost my sight and all I could hear frantic talking and shouting.
My body was going in a shock just like it did with Caleb.
And since it was three extra than last time, this is going to be bad.
