Chapter 2

Harry.

I relaxed back into my seat and closed my eyes, taking a deep breath.

"This is going to be a long ride..." I muttered to myself, but I couldn't help the excitement building up inside of me. In a few hours I would be in a whole new surrounding and adding a brand new experience to my personal life resumé.

"Cara this is actually happening!" I heard a light voice sound outside the carriage. I turned my head and what I saw captivated me. Her brown eyes shined with utter happiness, a big smile decorating her face. Her long brown curls lay gently atop her chest reaching down to her abdomen, and her laugh, it was enough to put a smile on anyone's face. I watched her sit down in one of the seats of the carriage across from me. I couldn't help but want to know her name, have her fill the unoccupied seat next to mine and have her entertain me with knowledge of herself. But I knew that wouldn't happen; she's entertained with her friend, leaving me to my lonesome.

I resumed to closing my eyes, pushing off a distant fantasy, and the driver of my carriage took off.

***

It was 11:45 pm and I've been in the city for hours. Looking around you wouldn't have even guessed that these are streets. In every possible space available, someone stood. It was packed like a can of sardines. But all the body heat helped make the cold bearable. It seems I can never escape the cold...

I looked around me and couldn't help but notice everybody had somebody. Whether it was a friend, a boyfriend or girlfriend, a brother or sister, almost everybody had somebody, but I was alone. Why did I choose to come by myself?

"Nothing is as great as it could be unless you have someone to share it with..." I recited to myself. I shook my head, Keep positive Harry you're in the city for goodness sakes. You could be back home in the bakery but you're here, cheer up a little.

I looked around at the crowd once more and that's when it happened. Any positivity I was trying to make myself feel flooded into me all at once.

It was her.

The girl from the other carriage, she was actually right here. A smile lit up my face at this miraculous coincidence, and that's when her friend met my gaze.

Lina.

"Woah! Look at that, Catalina!" Cara shouted out to me, looking up at the sparkling night sky in amazement. We stood in the middle of the hotspot of the city, nothing but cheers sounding around us. Fireworks popped from the restraints, shooting up into the night sky filling it with an assortment of colors.

I looked around me as people cheered, smiles lighting up their faces. Little children ran around in the little space they could, the middle of the city being packed like a can of sardines. I looked up at the sky myself and smiled, my eyes glowing from the array of colors displayed in the sky. The patterns they formed and the splashes of color were beautiful. Pink, purple, blue... It was incredible. I felt a tug on my hand and my eyes met Cara's.

"What?" I asked, confused as to why she tugged me. A gentle smirk formed on her face as she nudged her head in the direction behind me. I slowly turned around to where her eyes were targeting. My eyes met the body of a teenager like me, his dark curls immediately catching my attention. The second his eyes realized I was returning his gaze, he swiftly looked down as if his view was not just on me a few seconds ago.

I chuckled and looked back at Cara.

"He's cute." I told her, taking a second glance back at the boy a few yards away from me. We had people in between us but he stood out to me.
