“Best AU”
Isn’t it wonderful how you can pluck out your favorite characters and put them into an entire new universe? In here you can do anything, make the good guy the bad guy, and the bad guy the good guy. As long as they keep the personality, you can do anything. How does your alternative universe look like?
“Best Characterization”
There is a term called “OoC” meaning “Out of Character” that often gets thrown around in different fandoms. The reason for this is that one of the most important and demanding part of writing fanfiction is to make the characters stay like the way they are in the book. But yet they also develop, and for them to still to stay in character you have to keep the key-essence. Example: One thing that will never change about Supergirl, no matter what, is that she wants to help people. So if you want to make her evil, you a) have to expose her to red kryptonite or another brain-altering substance or b) make her believe she is helping people. Can you catch the key-essence of your characters?
