I was mesmerised by her body, the way she displayed it. She wasn't afraid to show her scars, her battle wounds, the signs that she won.

I just couldn't look away, no matter how hard I tried. I'm currently in Houston to go to a signing and there she was, alone in the mall, just looking for everything and nothing at the same time. She is so focused, it is a beautiful view.

Normally I would feel sad when I see someone with scars but for a reason I don't understand, I feel attracted to them. I want to hold her and tell her that it's all going to be okay and that she doesn't have to worry about a single thing in this world, she can be free if she wants to. Then I see myself, in the mirror, my dark hair is looking like I just had a bird flying into it but I didn't care, I wanted to know her, to understand what she feels but I know I can't. I don't even know her name but it's like I know her story, what she has been through.

I am deciding to be brave, I go to her, she is sitting alone a burger in her hand but she isn't eating. I'm so close, I can feel her staring at me, I don't know if she recognises me but I recognise her, Natalie, my former classmate when we were in elementary, I haven't seen her in years. I used to have the biggest crush on her, her auburn hair looks exactly the same, only her scars are different. She looks tired, the number of scars have increased.

"Hi, I don't know if you recognise but we went to the same elementary school together, you're Natalie right?" I asked bravely, she looked up, quite surprised but said "Oh yeah, right, you're Zac! I haven't seen you in ages." Her voice, oh my god her voice, it sounded broken but oh so beautiful. I decided to sit down next to her, we talked for a while.

We talked for hours and I finally decided to ask the question I have had in mind for the past hour. "But seriously, how have you been doing? You look pretty tired." She looked back at me, confused and said after a while "I have been really busy the past week with work and all but I'm fine!" she tried to happy but I wasn't convinced. Then out of the blue she started talking, she talked about the tough times she has been through, she got kicked out at the age of 17, was forced to live on the streets till now 28 years old.

I was moved by her speech and had tears in my eyes, I took immediate action and said that she will go with me, to go home. And that's the story of how I found my lovely wife.
