Dean never had a real Christmas, at least one he remembers. Sure there was that Christmas in the motel room with Sam, but they didn't have the tree, decorations, or even a proper Christmas dinner. But now with Mary and Cas in the bunker, Dean decided he was going to have a proper family Christmas.
Hoping the Men of Letters had decorations somewhere, Dean walked out of the library to search the bunker while Sam, Mary, and Cas went to get dinner and presents. They were very eager to leave the bunker when Dean told them his plan since two of them never had a proper Christmas as well and one hasn't had one in over twenty years. Walking into the last storage room, yes the Men of Letters have multiple storage rooms - it somehow helps the plot, Dean conveniently spotted a shelf labeled "Christmas." On the front of the shelf, there were files and books that Dean presumed were Christmas lore. But Dean was looking at the back of the shelf where there were boxes with tinsel and other things hanging out of their box. He walks over and picks up an empty box that is next to decorative items because plot convenience and filters out what items he wants. Walking back into the main room, Dean begins hanging tinsel and other items you hang during Christmas, even putting a mistletoe above the door inside his bedroom.
After about an hour or so of hanging stuff, the author is to lazy to put a time, Sam, Mary, and Cas walked in carrying bags with presents, dinner, and a tree. How they did this, no one knows. After setting the bags on a table and putting the tree down in the library, Sam and Mary grab the presents they bought and leave to wrap them while talking about Destiel. Which left Cas and Dean to put everything else away, by themselves, alone. *wink, wink*
Once the food is put away, they start decorating the tree. "Hey Cas," Dean called while taking Christmas tree decorations over to the tree (duh) "I need you to get on top of the tree" Dean finished with a smile. "I don't understand why do you want me on the tree. I would break it," Cas said, looking dumbfounded at Dean. "Don't you know, you put an angel on top of the tree. And don't ask me why," Dean said quickly when Cas opened his mouth to ask why. "Well, I'll try my best but it won't be 100% perfect." "Cas what are-" Dean stopped when he turned around and saw a miniature Cas figurine atop the tree. "Cas it was just a joke." "Oh...I'll take it do-" "No, no it's fine," Dean quickly stated at Cas's rejected look.
And then because the story needs to progress, and they need to bake cookies because the title of the chapter is Christmas Cookies, Cas and Dean finished decorating the tree and the rest of the bunker before going to the kitchen for food. While looking for chips or something, Dean came across a sugar cookie mix. "Cas, you ever made cookies before?" Dean asked turning around with the bag of cookie mix in hand. "No, I have not," Cas said, looking down. "Well, neither have I, or at least I don't remember making any, so we are going to make cookies," Dean said, pulling out ingredients and other stuff to make the cookies. And the author doesn't want to write out each step of the cookie making process, so let's just say things got messy.
"Cas, how many times do I have to say, you scoop out the flour, not pour it," Dean said, trying to clean up the mess Cas made and is still currently making.
"I'm sorry, I'm trying my best," Cas replied somehow covered in flour with batter on his hands.
"You're fine. Don't worry about it," Dean said as he places the cookies in the oven. Cas walks over to the sink to wash his hands, but Dean stops him.
"Dude, you don't wash the batter off your hands."
"How else am I supposed to get my hands clean like a 'normal' human," Cas said with air quotes around normal. (The author says normal human because for plot purposes, Cas wants to have a human Christmas) No one was prepared for what happened next.
"Like this-" Dean answered, taking one of Cas's hands bringing it to his mouth and putting one of Cas's finger in his mouth, sucking and licking the batter off. A small gasp escapes Cas, barely audible Dean but Dean still heard it thanks to his hunter trained ears. Once Cas's finger is clean of batter, Dean let go of Cas's hand, which slowly drops to Cas's side. Dean leaned in to hopefully make this go somewhere, but Dean stopped when he heard the rustle of wings and Cas disappeared.
"Better luck next time." Dean turned around to see a laughing moose in the doorway. "If there is a next time," Dean mumbles walking past Sam on his way to his room. Apparently the author needs this chapter to end, so it is night time and a rejected Dean wants nothing more than to go to sleep to ease his pain.
