// Imagine you are a member of the Akatsuki, and have been defeated / captured by Kakashi //
You kept your (e/c) eyes upon him; narrowing them out of anger and annoyance. Ever since you had been defeated and restrained, you hadn't let your glare leave him for even a moment. You sat on the ground with your butt resting slightly on the backs of your thighs, with your arms loosely resting on your lower back. It was definitely uncomfortable, and the chakra containing shackles bounding both of your wrists together weren't helping.
He was stood a few feet away from you, his gaze away from you and staring off in the distance. After he made sure you were unable to use any jutsus and fight back he had called for backup to help escort you. His headband was still adjusted around his forehead, revealing his scarred red orb. The Jonin uniform that had once been clean was now dirty and it was easy to tell he had been involved in a challenging battle.
"Grr." you lowly growled in annoyance at him. Now and then you would catch his eyes glancing your way for a split second, but each time as soon as his eyes met with yours he moved them away again. Each time you caught him it only pissed you off even more.
A few minutes had passed since you caught him last looking at you, and you hadn't looked away from him once. Your lower lip was slightly pouted now as you continued to watch him closely.
His eyes suddenly averted back your way, and almost immediately went back to their former position.
"Are you ever going to quit looking at me that way?" He asked, almost with his own slight hint of annoyance in his voice.
"No." You answered, stubborn and determined. "Why would you expect me not to look at you this way?"
"Because... it's getting uncomfortable. Can you not?" he calmly asked while keeping his gaze anywhere else but on you. Eventually though, his eyes lolled back your way, and this time they didn't look away.
"Hmm. I'll think about it." You fake-thought, rolling your eyes upwards as if trying to decide. "No." you narrowed your eyes once again as you resumed glaring at him.
Kakashi sighed as he closed his eyes and let his head drop. "Why did I think that would work?" he asked towards himself.
"Yeah, really. Why did you?" You mocked him.
Another sigh escaped from him. It was clear you were getting on his nerves, and that satisfied you. You had always had a knack for being able to push every one of Kakashi's buttons. Even when the two of you were just kids in the academy together, up to when you were both in the Anbu together. And here you both were now. Nothing had really changed.
"You are pushing it." He groaned in irritation.
"Good!" You chuckled. This only earned you another unamused sigh from the silver haired man.
After a few minutes you fumbled with your hands and wrists again, pulling at the shackles around your wrists, trying to see if there was any way to get loose. You did this as quietly as possible, hoping he wouldn't notice. And almost as if on que he commented on it.
"There is no way you will be able to get out of them... I made sure of it myself." He spoke without looking at you.
You narrowed your (e/c) eyes at him, continuing to glare in his direction like before.
Suddenly Kakashi spoke to you first, and to your surprise he was actually attempting to have a conversation with you. Probably to break the tension and make his time with you as tolerable as possible until his allies arrived.
"So how is it (y/n) of the (title/clan) ended up in the Akatsuki?" He asked.
It threw you off, because he should have already known the answer to that. But you answered back anyways.
"C'mon, Kakashi. You and I both know that it's no secret to you." You replied nonchalantly, cocking your head to the side slightly as you continued to stare at him.
He turned to meet your stare, and even though a mask covered half of his face, his expression was easy to tell. He wasn't very happy, that was obvious.
"You betrayed your people. Your village. Your home. You betrayed me." He states, his eyes were now locked with yours.
At this, your facade broke before him. His gaze, tone and words were enough to break through. Your (e/c) eyes now glazed over and softened as you recalled your past. You couldn't look him in the eyes anymore, so you turned your head away and allowed your (h/l) (h/c) hair to fall slightly in your face. Giving you a slight barrier from his fiery gaze.
Silence and tension built up around the 2 of you. After a few seconds, the sound of his footsteps snapped you from the memories. You kept your face hidden from him.
Kakashi knelt down in front of you and gently took hold of your chin and turned your face to look at him.
You unwillingly looked him in the eyes once again. The real you beginning to show through.
"Why, (y/n)? That's all I want to know."
"The pow--" you began but he abruptly cut you off.
"The power? Well, tell me, has it been worth it?" He asked.
You crumbled even more. You could feel your eyes begin to heat up and knew you were close to crying. However, you refused to let that happen, so you blinked them away.
"Do you think I want it to be this way? Even now, I don't want to see what is going to happen to you... but I can't help you anymore, (y/n)." He explained.
A single tear finally made its way down your cheek, and you swallowed as you looked up again to face him.
His eyes were sad and he was looking at you expectantly. Hoping for you to open up to him.You knew you couldn't let him get to you. You were in too deep and needed to bring yourself back. You blinked and narrowed your eyes. "I know what I've done, Kakashi. And I never asked you to save me. I made my choice and my intentions have been made pretty clear."
Kakashi sighed and released your chin as he glanced away from you.
"I couldn't save Obito. I couldn't save Rin. I failed to save you as well..." he trailed off, and his next words were enough to break you again.
"But I still have hope. That I can save you." He turned to look you in the eyes once more.
"I am too far gone. You can't save me anymore than you could've saved Obito and Rin." Your voice was beginning to betray you, as it cracked slightly.
He was silent for moment before he spoke next.
"Then why did you hesitate to kill me?"
You flinched in surprise and your eyes widened.
"W-what?"
"You had a clear opening and could have easily killed me.... more than once, actually. But you didn't. If you were really too far gone, then you wouldn't have hesitated to take me down." He explained.
"There's still some light in you. There is still some traces of the old (y/n) I was once friends with."
Feel free to make some requests and give me some ideas! :)
