I woke to the sound of people screaming. I was still wearing the dress from the day before as I roamed the streets trying to find the source of the screams. I turned in a circle people streaming past me. I finally looked toward the glass palace, just in time to watch the dark tower fall.
As the tower fell white blinding pain shot through my body. Pain familiar yet forgotten in the moment. I opened my eyes and all I could see was fire. The screams became more and more distant. Until all I could hear was the roar of the fire around me. I felt the power surging through me. I could burn the world and everything in it.
I don't know for how long I burned when a voice I hadn't heard in so long called my forgotten name.
"Fireheart," it called.
At the sound of my name. I fell, the flames falling with me. I was so cold. I didn't react as strong arms scooped me up.
Water hit me in drops. I later realized they were tears. "She's alive," the man's voice cracked, " she's alive and I didn't protect her."
"You couldn't have know Aedion," this time it was a women's voice speaking.
"I was my job to know!" He sobbed, "I swore it, Nehemia, I swore it." His voice quieted as he said it.
