Chapter 5:
***********Today was Friday, which meant Jason would be taking me on a date tonight. I had asked Summer to come over after school and help me get ready. She was reluctant about it, but ultimately agreed.
School passed by pretty quickly, and before I knew it, I was home getting ready. My parents weren't coming home until later on tonight, so I'll be gone by the time they show up.
I heard the doorbell ring. I hopped off of the couch in the living room and went to open the door. There stood my best friend.
"Sup bitch, ready to get this date over with?" She said walking past me, and going straight to my room.
"Well hello to you too." I said under my breath. I followed her up the steps, and went into my room. "Uh Summer? What's up with you?" I saw her sigh, then plop onto my bed.
"I'm sorry Dakota. I just don't like you dating Jason, you know how I feel about the way he treats you. It just isn't right. I'm just trying to look out for you." She said looking down.
I instantly wrapped my arms around her in a tight hug. I hate seeing her so upset, because then I get upset.
"Awe come on Summer, I'm fine. Plus the whole reason for this date is so that Jason can prove to me that he's trying to change. He wants to be a better person for me." I told her.
She nodded, "I know, I just think you could do better." She said to me.
"Yeah, I've been hearing that a lot lately." I mumbled under my breath.
"Look I'm not trying to tell you what to do, I'm just telling you what I think you should do." I loved how forward Summer always was, she never sugar coated anything. Just told it how it was.
"I know, and I appreciate that. But I want to give Jason another chance." I explained to her.
"Okay, well I'm always here to support you no matter what." She said giving me one more hug.
She got off of the bed, and went right for my closet. She rummaged through it, and gave me a rose colored lace dress.
"Here, put this on." She demanded.
"Wow I forgot I had this." I said holding up the material to myself.
"Go go go." She said clapping her hands, trying to get me to try it on quickly.
"Okay jeez." I said getting up, and walked to my bathroom.
A few minutes later, I came out, and showed Summer the dress. "Well?" I asked, twirling around in my spot.
"Dayuum you look hot." She said in a fuckboy voice.
I laughed and did another twirl. "Now for shoes. Black or white?" She asked, holding up my two options.
I thought for a moment, "hmm the black ones." I decided. I walked over to the mirror, so I could examine myself. The dress hugged my body perfectly, showing off my hourglass figure. The heels made me a few inches taller, and my hair fell in waves down to the middle of my back.
"I also laid these out for you to put on." Summer told me. Pointing to a pair of earrings and a necklace, which was laid out neatly for me.
"Oh those are perfect, thanks." I said putting on the jewelry.
I went over to my vanity mirror, and put on my makeup. Not too much, just enough though. I'm not one to cake myself up with a bunch of makeup.
"Okay I'm ready." I told Summer, who was laying on my bed scrolling through her phone. She looked up, and gave me a nod of approval.
