taylor:
his gray blue eyes turn a darker shade of blue, and his jawline tenses."what did he do."
"nothing."
lies.
"taylor, you can trust me."
"i promise, he didn't do anything."
more lies.
"okay, i believe you."
i nod and refocus my attention to the TV.
"tay."
"hm?"
"are you okay?"
"i'm fine."
"so something IS wrong."
"i just said i was fine." i say, and furrow my eyebrows at him, and he's looking down at me.
"fine doesn't mean fine taylor."
"just leave it, zach."
"but..."
"i said leave it."
i stand up and brush past him before he gets the chance to argue.
---
i lay awake, looking at the unfamiliar ceiling above me.
i ended up sleeping at zach's because he didn't want me to drive home alone so late at night, and my mom agreed and let me stay here.
apryll was nice and got out a water mattress for me and weston.
i start playing with my fingers and sigh.
i wanted to tell zach what happened, i just....
can't.
a tear falls out of my eye.
daniel told me if i told anyone about what happened, he would hurt me.
i try to blink back tears as i look at the ceiling, but it doesn't work too well.
before i know it, tears are rolling down my cheeks and onto my pillow, as quiet sobs escape my throat.
i will not let him walk all over me, again.
he's-
"tay?"
i bite my lips to keep from whimpering.
"taylor, what's wrong?" zachs soft voice gets closer to me as i pretend to be asleep.
"i know you're awake, silly goose." he says, and i grin.
"knew it!!" i open my eyes at his last whispered words and see him leaning over me, his nose inches from mine as his breath hits my face.
"i'm fine."
he looks at me with that 'really? i know you're lying' look, that i even can make out in the dark.
"just go back to sleep." i say, and roll over.
"aight."
i then feel the water bed dip beside me, and an arm wrap around my waist.
"i can't sleep until i know you're okay." he says, and i smile.
how did i get so lucky to have a best friend like him?
