zach:
has she been crying?"tay...?" i softly ask, as she darts her blue eyes away from mine.
she twiddles a picture in her hands, and i sit down on her bed beside her.
"do you mind telling me what this is about? you can talk to me."
she breathes in slowly.
"o-okay."
she looks up at me and fakes a small smile.
"so, when i was 15, almost 16, i started dating that younow guy, daniel?" she looks up at me, and i make a face as if to say, 'yeah, keep going'.
"yeah him. anyways, we really liked each other, right? okay. so one night, we went to a party..."
my jaw tenses.
what did he do to...
my girl.
uh - i mean taylor.
"...and he was drinking like crazy. and he never drank. like ever. he was going crazy and all of his friends were daring him to do stupid things. i sat him down so he would calm down, and he grabbed my wrist, and pulled me into the closest bedroom. he started forcefully kissing me, and the more i wined, the more force there was. i was crying until someone busted the door open, and got me. his name was carter. he had heard my screams and came in. we became best friends after. we were friends for about 9 months and hen he asked me out, and we were completely in love. 6 months into our relationship, he was diagnosed with brain cancer... he died 7 months later. we had planned to get married..."
by now she was full on crying and i start to tear up myself.
"... my point is, i don't want to get hurt by anyone and i feel like i'm intruding."
i lift up her chin so her eyes meet mine.
"you aren't intruding."
my eyes involuntarily flick down to her lips and back up to her eyes, as my heart rate increases.
i start to lean in and so does she, her eyes fluttering closed.
i move my hand from her chin to her cheek as our lips meet.
after we break apart, she looks up at me with rosy cheeks through her eyelashes.
"wow." i breathe as i touch my lips gently.
"you're not too bad yourself."
