Warren went back to our room after he told me off about taking the orb. I walked to our room and took out the orb and put it on the drawer next to our beds again. Right at that moment I heard a crackling sound, I turned to see the window frosting. A black figure wearing a cloak with its hood up was floating outside the window.
Its hand reached out to the window and the glass shattered, I covered myself hoping that I wouldn't be cut by the shards of glass that flew out and littered the floor. The ghostly black figure floated towards me right when Warren came out if the shower. He let out a shout which distracted the figure but it was focused on the orb. I darted to the orb and grabbed it before the creature did. The figure menacingly rose and floated towards me and it held onto my wrist. I felt a pain I never felt before, it was like somebody was burning me while rubbing salt into the burn. I screamed and my brother picked up the closest thing next to him and threw it at the creature. It didn't have any effect on it but it turned its attention to Warren. It floated towards him, arms outstretched but then one of the orphanage guardians walked through the door and it turned its attention to her. The creature spoke for the first time "This is between The Chosen and the Sathira" and a tendril came out from under the cloak and impaled her. She didn't even get to scream before she was killed, in a split second she was dead and the tendril flung her out of the window. It turned its attention back to me and came closer, then a person smashed through the other window. All I saw was a flash of light and the creature dissolved into shadows. The person stood up and removed his cloak.
His face was just a map of scars, there was a scar along his face which started at his eye. He had a stern expression and coldly looked at us. "My name is Tiphra and that thing that just attacked you was a wraith, if I had a choice I wouldn't even be here but the Elite Circle ordered me to." Warren and I just stared at him shocked and unable to process what we just saw, then I said "What did you do to it?" Tiphra explained that it wasn't dead but it was weakened, wraiths couldn't be killed so it would be back soon when it recovers. The place where the wraith was now had a black patch and when I looked closer I saw that the edges were moving outwards slowly and withdrawing again. Tiphra said that we were The Chosen and that we were the ones who were going to stop the war between his people the Aetherians and the forces of evil, the wraiths and many other unspeakable creatures that are the Sathira. All I could hear was the rumble of thunder like a foreboding warning that bad things were going to happen. Tiphra's cold expression slowly turned into anger and frustration as we saw him fiddling with an ornate stone or something. We jumped as he profusely swore, we imagined what would happen if someone were to walk in suddenly. The situation would almost be comical if it were not for Tiphra's expression. "Stupid rock, doesn't even do anything" he growled. I was about to ask him what it did when he said "it's supposed to transport us to our world." "What do you mean?" we were still shocked from the guardian being killed. "Our world? What do you mean our world?" Tipra looked like a completely different person, as if all the anger and roughness were stripped away from him and he was vulnerable. "Your parents.....your parents were the rulers of Aetheria, and my closest friends, After they were killed by a wraith I swore that I wouldn't let you both die. You see, you both are now the rulers of Aetheria." I was shocked at this sudden reveal and no doubt my brother was the same, we knew nothing about ruling a kingdom. But I then realized what we had to do, we had to rule Aetheria, without guidance, Aetheria could fall to the Sathira and be overwhelmed with chaos.
