The sky was getting dark, but I wouldn't care as long as there wasn't lightning.

I sat on a bench next to Percy. I knew he was going to be adopted soon. He was cute and smart and well...everything a family would like to adopt. Unfortunately, he was my only friend back at the orphanage. I would be alone.

"Can you teach me more words?" Percy asked.

"I don't know, Percy..."

"It doesn't have to be about homophobes. I just want to know more words."

"Okay. Umm...do you know the word...construction?"

"Yeah. Annabeth told me that one. She wants to be an Arch-it-ect." He had to say the word 'architect' slowly.

"Yeah? Well do you know the word doe?"

"Cookie dough?"

"No, a doe is a girl deer. D-o-e."

"Oh. So..." he pointed to a deer that was in the woods. "That's a doe?"

"Yeah, that's a doe."

That's when someone tapped my shoulder. I jumped up from the bench and Percy did too.

"Will?"

Will smiled at me.

Percy crossed his arms. "If you start being a homophobe, I will punch you even though Nico said not to."

I laughed, "Percy, this is Will. He's the person I saw at school today."

"Oh." Percy said, then held out his hand, "In that case, I'm Percy."

Will shook his hand. "Are you two friends?"

A few rain drops splattered on the ground.

"Yeah. We-"

He sent me a look like, 'Can I tell him that we go to an orphanage?'

I shook my head.

"We are neighbors."

"Oh, okay. Umm Nico, I wanted to ask you if you'd come to my house tomorrow."

I turned to Percy, "Will you be okay by yourself?"

"Yeah, I'll be fine."

"Okay..."

It was raining pretty hard now.

I looked back up at Will, "Sure."

Will smiled at me. "Great. I'll meet you after school tomorrow, okay."

"Okay."

"Hey, do you want me to walk you home?" Will asked.

"I..." I glanced down at Percy, who was obviously thinking this was a bad idea.

"Please?"

"But..."

"Where do you live? I'm walking you home." Will announced.
