•Time Jump 3 Days Later•
Maggie doesn't understand. For 3 days this Mark guy has come by and checked on Alex ,who can finally talk but slowly and her vitals are normal, But he doesn't just check on her facial conditions or brain activity or to see if she's healing, he sits for hours and just talks to her about things Maggie doesn't understand, hell everyone in this damn hospital comes by to see Alex. That's not what bothers Maggie the most, what bothers Maggie the most is the way Mark looks at her. He looks at her the way Maggie looks at her, with unconditional love. Maggie feels like a third wheel and she doesn't even understand why.
'Who is this guy? How do him and Alex know each other so well?' All of these thoughts have circled inside inside of Maggie's head since he showed up. That's why she has distanced herself from Alex, the strange guy, and Kara.
Sweet little Kara Danvers. The only person who seems to know everything that's going on with Alex. She sits and listens to the handsome guy speak like the sweetheart she is. Maggie can't handle that anymore. Which is why she is currently standing outside getting some fresh air. She leans against the railing and runs her fingers through her hair and sighs in defeat.
"Hi." She hears the soft voice of Kara behind her say.
Maggie groans under her breath.
"I heard that ya know? With super hearing and all." Kara says leaning against the railing next to her with a smirk.
Maggie just nods her head.
"Okay Sawyer spit it out" Kara says with a chuckle and a sigh. "For 3 days you have been so quite and that's not like you at all."
Maggie sighs and bites her lip and turns her head toward her.
"I-I don't get it." Maggie says quietly.
Kara leans in closer to her. "What do u mean?" She asks softly.
Maggie exhales heavily. "I. Before the accident I felt like I knew everything about Alex. We've been together for a year for god's sake, and she. She has told me everything. But now we're here. We're here and I don't know the girl in there on that bed. But it feels like everyone else does."
Maggie admits, her voice cracking as tears slip down her face.
Kara frowns in sympathy toward Maggie. "Maggie." She says placing a hand on her back. "You really know nothing about Alex's real past do you?" She asks sadly.
Maggie shakes her head and furiously wipes the tears away.
"Not this past anyway" she says.
Kara smiles sadly at her.
"5 years ago, Alex used to be known as Lexie Grey. She went to medical school, became an intern. Right Here at this very hospital."
Maggie looks up at her surprised. "Why-why did she never mention that to me?" She asks.
Kara shrugs her shoulders lightly.
"She proably didnt, because she was supposed to forget about her past life. Make a new one. And she did that. She got her second chance." Kara says with a small smile.
"What do u mean? Second chance?" Maggie asks confused.
Kara smiles at her and pushes a strand of hair out of Maggie's face.
"She left her medical career for the DEO. They offered her a position in the DEO, which she took because she wanted to start a new life." Kara says sadly.
Maggie turns toward her more.
"She left this entire life just to pick up in another life and pretend this one never happened just to join the DEO?" Maggie asks surprised.
Kara nods. "Yes. She. She faked her death."
Maggie inhales sharply. "What?"
She asks tears spilling down her cheeks. Maggie, being a cop sees death all the time, so hearing someone fake their death, especially her own girlfriend stops her in her tracks.
Kara nods. "The DEO made her. Her and some doctors were on their way to a location when their plane crashed. But The DEO made it happen, but they protected Alex. But Alex had to fake her death so she could join the DEO and no one would ask questions. Which is why everyone is shocked to see her alive after 5 years. Mark and Meredith Grey were on the plane with her and watched her die. Of so they thought anyway." Kara tells Maggie, tears leaking down her own face.
Maggie let's out a sob and balls her hands into fists. "And that guy in there? That lady with the same last name? They were on the plane. But Who were they to her?" Maggie asks nervously.
Kara smiles sadly again.
"The lady, Meredith Grey. That was or is her sister. Her real sister." Kara admits with more tears leaking down her face.
Maggie squeezes her hand.
"You are her real sister too little danvers." She says with a calm smile.
Kara smiles back. "I am now." She says.
"And the guy?" Maggie asks, jealousy present in her voice.
Kara smiles. "Mark. Was her boyfriend. They. They planned a whole future together once." Kara explains.
Maggie inhales again. "Oh." She says turning away from Kara again.
Kara places her hand on her shoulder in sympathy.
"But she loves u now. U know that right?" Kara says.
"Yeah." Maggie says nodding, doubts and fears swirling in her mind.
Kara is about to speak when the sound of the door opening pulls their attention away to see a nurse approaching them.
"E-excuse me. Sorry to bother you guys but miss Danvers is asking for a Maggie?" The nurse says to them.
Maggie swallows nervously.
Kara places a hand on her shoulder. "Go to her. She needs you." She says to Maggie, who nods and quickly makes her way to the nurse.
"Aren't u coming?" Maggie asks.
"I'll. Be there In second. There's someone I need to check in with at home." Kara says pulling her phone out and hitting 'CAT' on her phone with a smile.
Maggie nods knowingly with a small smile and makes her way inside.
Maggie approaches the hospital room cautiously. She sees Mark still sitting next to Alex's bed. She inhales deeply and exhales as she makes her way inside.
Alex looks Over from her conversation with Mark and smiles deeply at Maggie.
"Hey you." Alex says softly, her voice horse from the time she spent not talking.
Maggie smiles and stands tentively next to the bed.
"Hi." Maggie says glancing between Mark and Alex.
Alex cocks her head to the side and reaches out her hand to Maggie.
"Okay, you have been distant for a few days now and you have only held my hand when you've been in here with me. It's still me ya know? Messed up face and all it's still me. I won't break. Now come down here Detective Sawyer and kiss me. Please." Alex says pulling on Maggie's hand.
Maggie let's out a soft chuckle and smiles down at her, her dimples showing and allows herself to be pulled down to meet Alex's lips for the first time in what feels like forever.
Mark sits and just watches the exchange. He sees how Lexie's eyes light up whenever she mentions Maggie's name. The way her eyes used to light up when his name was mentioned.
His heart aches sadly, painfully as he watches them. But his heart also beats happily for her, Glad she has found someone to love in her new life. Her new life. He had listened intently when Lexie had explained everything to him. His emotions changing from sad, to angry, to happiness that she's okay, to feeling used and confused.
He catches movement at the doorway and glances up to see Meredith watching them curiously but with a smile. He stands up and excuses himself as he makes his way outside.
"So. Maggie is Lexie's...girlfriend?"
Meredith asks in shock.
Mark sighs and nods. "Yes." He says.
Meredith glances at him. "Are u okay?"
Mark shakes his head. "Yes. No. I don't know. I mean she explained everything and she apologized Many times, and I forgive her. Of course I do. But she faked her death Meredith. She left us all behind and now has new people in her life. She tried to forget us Meredith." He says looking away from Lexie.
Meredith bites her lip.
"Yeah. She did all of that. And I'll never understand why no matter how many times she explains it. But it was her choice. She wanted a new life. And she was given a chance to make it happen by the DEO. A second chance Mark. And I'm hurt as hell that my sister now has a new sister. But she's still my sister. She's still Lexie to me. She can change her name, her hair and her sexuality. But she's still my Lexie. Which means, I'm happy for her. Look at her Mark. She's happy. We may be hurt and scared and confused. But look at her. Her face is all messed up and her body is broken. But she's happy." Meredith explains to him, her eyes watering.
Mark just stares at her in shock.
"You don't hate her? At all?" He asks.
Meredith shakes her head. "I did. For like 3 minutes, then I felt relived that she's even alive." She says smiling at her sister through the glass.
Mark takes in her words and smiles at how true everything is.
He's brought out of his thoughts by someone stopping and standing in front of him and offered their hand. He glances up to see Maggie herself.
"Hi. I'm Maggie Sawyer." She says nervously. "And. I think it's time we talk."
