Chapter 1: Help From the "Enemy"

I looked into Harry's worried green eyes, then Jessie's concered brown ones. Then I looked back to Harry.

"Please," I pleaded with them, "If I tell you, allow me to explain. At least try not to hate me, please."

"Grace, you can try as hard as you want, but I'll never hate you. You'll never get rid of me." Jessie said.

I smiled a little, then turned to Harry. "Harry?"

"Same for me, Grace." He said simply, and I knew they were both being honest.

I took a deep breath. "Okay, first thing you need to know- my father... is a Death Eater."

Jessica gasped and Harry's eyes turned sad. My heart sank, but I continued.

I went on to explain how my father wanted me to follow his lead and the mission The Dark Lord assigned me.

Harry looked to be completely at a loss for words. Jessica, however, had plenty.

"So you're going to practically kill off Harry?! You've got to tell your father off, Grace! Honestly girl, you'd think you haven't been my friend for about five years; you've learned nothing from me!" Jessie said.

I rolled my eyes, but didn't get angry. It's just typical Jess for ya.

"I know I have to do something, Jess. I just don't know what. Honestly, Harry. I will do something. I promise." I said.

Harry nodded. "I know. I trust you, Grace." Butterflies erupted in my stomach; he trusts me!

I got up to go to the bathroom, I needed a few alone moments. When I came back, Hermione and Ron had returned. And guess who stood there teasing Harry, Ron, Hermione, Neville, Jessie, and Luna? Gee, maybe Draco Malfoy?

I rolled my eyes. I'm so not in the mood for this blonde Slytherin. My eyes narrowed as I walked over.

"Something funny, Draco?" I asked rudely.

"Well, not that it concerns you, but I was laughing at how Weasel here was deciding what to buy off the candy cart." Draco replied, still laughing.

I looked over to Ron, he looked defeated and worn. I felt my blood boil at this. "And why is that so funny, Malfoy?" I said through clenched teeth.

"Isn't it obvious? Weasel found he couldn't afford any! Potter here was planning to buy him some!" Draco said then burst out laughing, clutching his sides.

That sent me over the edge. Malfoy is nothing short of evil. He's a Death Eater already, unfortunatly I nearly am. That thought gave me an idea.

I let my anger out and connected my fist with Draco's face.

"Ouch! You filthy blood traitor! You'll regret this, you mark my words, Bennett!" Draco called out.

"Shhh. Don't call me Bennett! That name is a disgrace!" I said, then took his head and dragged him off. He attempted to break free, but he is in a lot of pain; my dad taught me to be tough.

I didn't notice Hermione, Ron, and Harry staring after me with shocked and confused faces.

"Get inside this empty compartment, okay?" I said, pushing him in.

"What do you want?!" He hissed when we were both seated.

"Look, can we drop the act of hatred for a minute here?" I asked, exasperated.

He smirked. "It's not an act; I sincerely hate you."

I rolled my eyes. "Whatever. Let's put it this way: You don't do your best to hear me out and help me, I'll do worse than what I did out there. And, I'll make sure to exaggerate the story to everyone. I can imagine that now:  'And then ickle Grace whammed him in the place where the sun don't shine... He burst out in tears!' Do you want that?" I said, then chuckled to myself.
