I was awoken with my big brother taping his finger against the glass of my window. This my be considered normal to people who live in one story houses, but I do not.... My brother climbs (slithers) up to my second story window every morning because he is so protective, and he wants to to be the one that wakes me up every morning. I swear one day that Draco is going to fall and break his neck, but hopefully that will never come. It's a miracle that Rosa, and Garrick, my adoptive parents, haven't found out about Draco yet, but then again Garrick is basically blind. And Rosa is not very observant, so I can understand why they haven't.

I glared at my brother, then get out of bed to open my only window for him. My room is decorated very simply with black walls, white furniture, and lime green curtains/comforter.
My brother pulls out the chair from my desk out. Then Draco sits backwards so that he is still facing me, and has his elbows plopped down, and rests his head on them. Draco flipped his long hair out of his face, then smirked, "How's my baby sister doing?"

"The same as always, Draco," I said to my brother as I grabbed a pair of black skinny jeans, and a cropped orange shirt. I went into the bathroom to change leaving my brother alone in my room. When I was finished, I stoped in my doorway because I came back to find my brother routing through one of my drawers. "You know you'll never find anything interesting.... right?" I said as to startle my older brother.

"Just checking," he said trying to play it off 'cool'; well more like 'idiotically' in my opinion.

"Well I have to get going," I said while tying up my grey combat boots. "I have to get to school."
I quickly brushed my straight-ish hair, and put on bare minimum makeup. I grabbed my newly brought, neon orange satchel on my shoulder, and faced my brother saying, "You better go, before sweet ole Rosa hears you." I looked at Draco with the most innocent look I could possibly muster.

"You are one hell of a sister. I hope you know that," my brother stated while climbing out my window. Once fully outside, he swiped his hair
away with his hand then touched the grey mark on the back of his neck, and as his name might suggest turn into a dragon snake.

"You know someday somebody is going to see you. If you're going to do this everyday you need to be more careful," I warned my over protective brother. He nodded and hissed to show that he understood, then Draco carefully slithered down the side of my house down onto the ground.

As soon as I closed my window I heard Rosa calling, "Nyoka come down dear, it's your first day of high school."

I quickly looked down to make sure that my ankle was covered, and I had my prized possession that I took every where with me; my  mother's old book. She had recorded every shifter, every shifting technique, and all the know animals that out people could shift into.
It was written in a code that only my family knows, so I trust that no know will find out my secret based on this book. I always have the book on me anyways, then I carefully place the document into my new satchel, and head down stairs.

When I arrive there I find my adoptive father doing a cross word puzzle, and my adoptive mother finishing the frying of the bacon. I quickly butter two slices of toast, then shove one of the pieces into my mouth. Afterwards, I grab six strips of bacon. "Rosa thanks for the food, and may I be leaving for school soon? I have all the paper work," I ask.

"Yes. Of course dear. Why it only seems like yesterday you were limping around hear like you had never worn shoes before, and speaking in broken English," she whispered. And if she only knew how true that last statement was.

I kissed Garrick's forehead and mumbled 'See you later.' Then I hugged Rosa, and grabbed my papers, and Garrick's old truck keys that he lets me use. The truck was a beat up old thing that had more dents, and scratches then the original black paint, but I loved that truck.
